Over the summer one of the NBA‘s greats became a free agent. Many fans and players assumed he was going to stay in Oklahoma City with Russel Westbrook. Being that he didn’t we saw Durant play the villain role and signed with Golden State. This has to be one of the biggest disappointments in NBA history.
Especially since Russell Westbrook was coming into his own player becoming disciplined, rising up in clutch situations, and making his teammates better. Westbrook was finally living up to the potential of an MVP, all by racking up triple doubles.
Kevin Durant has been playing one of the arguably best seasons of his career while in the Warriors uniform. This year Durant is averaging 26.2PPG along with 4.5 assists. When Durant agreed to sign with the Warriors, as fans of the NBA we thought it screamed undefeated season.
Once it was announced that Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors, fans looked down in disappointment. He took the easy path to get a ring by signing with the best team in NBA history according to last season due to that marvelous record. This was the biggest shame by a player in NBA history.
Many will say LeBron James signing with Miami in 2014 was a weak move by a player. People went on to the extent of saying LeBron and the Miami Heat was an expensive dynasty.
Although the team only consisted of 3 superstars in Wade, Bosh, and James, people still went on to say that LeBron cheated his way to a championship by surrounding himself with 2 other superstar players.
On the other hand, we see Kevin Durant who walked his way over to the Bay. Surrounding himself with 4 superstars in Curry, Thompson, Green, and Igudola. Not only are these the original Golden State Warrior squad who contributed to the best regular season record of 73-9 but, they are all-stars.
