For the Emperor! For Russ!

Another Warhammer 40,000 game is incoming! Slitherine, the same publisher that brought you Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon, is working with Games Workshop once again. And this time, the Space Wolves are going to get a chance to take a crack at the brutal Orks. Currently, Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach is slated to come out in November 2016.

In the Sanctus Reach system, the Orks have arrived under the banner of Warboss Grukk in a massive attack otherwise known as the Red Waaagh! Sanctus Reach is in shambles. The only planet left standing is the Knight world of Alaric Prime. They can’t win against the Orks alone. And so the fearsome Space Wolves Chapter of the Space Marines must send in their mighty warriors to lend a heavily-armored hand to the ailing planet. And that’s where YOU come in!

Upon watching the teaser, one notable difference from Slitherine’s previous Warhammer 40,000 title is that Sanctus Reach is going to have 3D models and environments, instead of the 2D setup that Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon sported. The Space Wolf and Ork models look well done! As the camera panned over the Space Wolves, you could see all the details from the Chapter emblems on their shoulder pads, a bone fetish on a Space Wolf’s belt, and glowing runes on force weapons. The Orks still have their good ol’ ramshackle charm. Spiky shoulder straps, check. Deff Dread clanking around, check. Glowing red eyes of menace, check. Big ax, check.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Knight world if you couldn’t use an Imperial Knight. Without a doubt, using that unit is going to be lots of fun.

According to the Steam page, there will be two campaigns and a skirmish mode with generated maps. In the skirmish mode, you will have a chance to experiment with playing as the Orks, if you so choose. And there will be multiplayer so you can take the fight to others.

A nice feature that Armageddon had was that you could bring your surviving units over to the next mission of the current campaign. In Sanctus Reach, it gets a little better. As described on the game’s Steam page, your units will be able to gain experience, skills, and options.

This is an exciting time for Warhammer 40,000 fans and newcomers alike. Games Workshop has been chugging out the games this year, and there’s still more to come. Considering how fun Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon was, I can’t wait to see how Sanctus Reach turns out!
