Ninjas and their particular brand of deadly martial arts have played an enormous role in Western pop-culture since the early 1980s. From mutant turtles studying ninjutsu in New York to more modern iterations like American Ninja Warrior, the appeal of these silent, sometimes mystical killers is undeniable.
Now with the advent of virtual reality, you can step into the shoes of a ninja and train to become the ultimate warrior in the comfort of your own home.
VRNinja is a fast-paced virtual reality party game that challenges players to dodge and duck their way past flurries of ninjutsu-inspired weapons. Built using the power of Unreal Engine 4, VRNinja transports players to one of three exquisite, Japanese environments where they must use their keen senses and razor-sharp reflexes to anticipate the ninja’s next attack.
VRNinja has two mode of play, a Campaign mode that exposes players to predetermined waves of attacks and an Arcade mode that challenges players to survive for as long as possible while dodging.
Like many action-oriented, skill-based virtual reality games, VRNinja is fun while played solo, but hilarious when played in groups. Parties and other social events provide excellent opportunities to haul out VRNinja, as its intuitive controls make it an excellent introduction to VR.
And because all the movement in the game is produced directly by player’s own head movements, VR sickness is a non-issue.
