When you have a fight card like UFC 204 with nine fights ending in finishes there’s bound to be medical suspensions. All eleven fights were very active including the two that went to decision. Manchester was host to one of the better cards to take place this year headlined by Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson. It was the second meeting between them with a much different outcome than the first.
Michael Bisping vs Dan Henderson II didn’t disappoint by any means. It was well worth the wait even if it was over seven years. If Henderson wasn’t retiring the fans would pay to see the rubber match based on how close the sequel was. Sometimes the makings of a great match have absolutely nothing to do with rankings and this fight proved it. Dan Henderson’s career couldn’t have ended on a better fight card for a crowd that he eventually won over by night’s end. Unable to win a UFC title Henderson went out the best he could, well respected.
The judging was a bit off but the right person won, at least in the main event. There’s a list of fighters lining up to face the middleweight champ but they’ll have to wait because he’ll be on the shelf for half a year or until further notice. 200 was supposed to be the best card ever created but it appears that every pay per view since UFC 200 has surpassed it as far as fight quality. UFC 204 certainly raised the bar for how an entertaining card should look.
UFC 205 through UFC 207 are stacking up quite nicely they’re certain to leave UFC 200 in the wind. Expect to see title changes and plenty more great fighters on the medical suspension list.
