Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler releases a new album.

Spain’s contribution to electronic music is not to be overlooked.

11/25/2017 – With the success of comic book action movie blockbusters, many new fans have been introduced to characters that might not have known.  Hailing from the Marvel Universe is one of the most popular X-men: Nightcrawler.   The name itself conjures dark and terrifying images, which aptly describes one of Spain’s rising new talents in the electronic music scene.  The artist known as Nightcrawler newest album is just that.  Exploring the dark side of synthwave, aptly dubbed ‘darksynth’, there are undertones of the nastier side of music…. and human nature.

We caught up with Nightcrawler just in time for his new video game OST collaboration and to chat about the music scene in Spain.

When will the new album, Beware of the Humans be released?

The album has been out since October 17th. [LINK]

Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler is one of the most beloved X-men from Marvel Comics.

Nightcrawler is a famous character from the Marvel Universe.  He is a member of the X-men and often represents the moral compass of the super hero team.  Did Stan Lee’s NightCrawler in any way influence you when choosing your stage name?

Yeah, I knew of him before starting the Nightcrawler project, but I chose that name because of his literal translation since it fit very well with the dark style of music I do.

Spain is known for it’s long standing tradition of musical excellence, but it is not generally considered at forefront of electronic music.  Is this stigma beginning to change?  How is the music scene in Spain developing at the end of 2017?

In Spain we have one of the most important festivals of electronic music in the world called Sonar Festival, but it’s true that electronic music in spain is a bit less important than in the rest of europe. But it’s also true that nowadays the true talent is more in the underground. For example Waste Records is putting really nice music out.

Sonar Festival, Spain, EDM, Synthwave
Eric Prydz rocking The Sonar Festival (6/7/2017) in Barcelona, Spain.

The title of your newest album is ‘Beware of the humans‘.  Who should be wary of humans?

The human being is capable of the best, but also of the worst.  The album makes a bit of criticism in this concept.  The worst enemy of humanity is ourselves in many occasions… The apple is more than rotten. Everyday I see injustices in the news or in my facebook timeline…  That kind of stuff is what inspired me in the development of this album.

Jägermeister Galaxy Hunter, synthwave, nightcrawler

You recently had a collaboration Jägermeister.  How did that come around and what challenges did it present to you as a synthwave artist?

I joined the roster of artists of Jägermusic in 2016 and I have played in several festivals in the stages that they sponsor.   Now they have just published a retro style videogame called Jägermeister Galaxy Hunter, inspired in the 80s, in which i produced the BSO.  It will come out on vinyl in mid-december.  I am very happy to collaborate with them with my music.

Thanks for talking to Slickster Magazine.  Is there anything else you’d like to mention, promote, shout out?

Thanks a lot for this interview. Hope people enjoy my new album as much as I do and I invite those who dont know me to check it out at: nightcrawler.bandcamp.com

Thanks for all!

Canelo & Golovkin Battled for Supremacy Only to Find an Equal

0

Despite witnessing one of the great middleweight fights of the modern era, the focus in the aftermath was firmly on the scorecards.

The contest was a tight affair with many rounds being decided by only one or two punches, all three outcomes could have been possible once the final bell sounded at least from my perspective. It was the margin by which Adalaide Byrd scored the fight for Canelo that left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.

Adalaide Byrd’s scorecard read 118-110, which indicates she saw Golovkin winning only two rounds out of twelve, any viewer with a shred of common sense could see that was not the case. This wasn’t the first occasion Bryd delivered a dubious scorecard which begs the question, is she an incompetent judge? or is there something more sinister at work?

Byrd has since been temporarily suspended from judging big fights in Las Vegas, Bob Bennet who is the Nevada Athletic Commission executive director stated: “She’ll still be in the business….. but she needs to catch her breath”.

The move is a temporary fix to a long-running problem. My solution would be to exclusively hire ex-professionals as judges. The benefit of in-ring experience gives them a better understanding of what’s happening during a fight. Only a minority of fighters leave the sport with enough money to live comfortably, it would effectively provide an extra source of income. Any candidates should still be subject to usual training and screening protocol but on the whole, you should end up with a team of more competent & knowledgeable judges.

My fear is that historically the controversy will overshadow the story of the fight itself which was like a tug of war with the rope barely moving in either direction for a prolonged period of time.

In the first few rounds, both men settled into their roles with GGG being the aggressor & Canelo choosing to move and counter, as the fight progressed it was a constant battle for control. In the latter stages, with Canelo looking fatigued it seemed as if GGG would pull away but Canelo finished strong to even up the contest on the cards.

The fight was there for the taking, GGG could have been smarter attacking Canelo when he was backed up on the ropes & Canelo gave up ground too easily for my liking leaving the impression that GGG was bossing the action in rounds that were difficult to score. In the end, neither man was able to stamp their authority on the contest and this left the result in doubt.

The one thing that shouldn’t be in doubt is a rematch, it was an entertaining fight due to the competitive nature of the contest. All parties should profit more in a rematch because the fight is even more marketable following the ambiguous ending of the first. What would make more sense at this point than a re-run?

In sports sometimes things don’t go to plan, the actions of one judge some seem to think has damaged boxing. If you think back to Mayweather vs Pacquiao and the outrage regarding how uneventful it was, in comparison, Canelo vs GGG did at least provide an action-packed fight.

2017 has been a great year for competitive boxing matches. From a consumerist point of view after years of fighters avoiding one another, the best fighting the best has been a welcome change. Adalaide Byrd’s scorecard was no doubt frustrating but not enough to spoil the fight or the sport as a whole.

Canelo vs GGG 2 will be 2018’s premier attraction. let’s hope we get a definitive ending.

FCC Announces Roll Back of Net Neutrality

0

On November 21st, 2017 FCC Chairman Ajit Pai released a draft on repealing net neutrality laws.

The two page. Titled CHAIRMAN PAI CIRCULATES DRAFT ORDER TO RESTORE INTERNET FREEDOM AND ELIMINATE HEAVY-HANDED INTERNET REGULATIONS announced that it will be voting on the draft of Restoring Internet Freedom Order on december 14th. The release stated how regulations put in place during the Obama administration were “heavy-handed, utility-style regulations upon the Internet” that “depressed investment in building and expanding broadband networks and deterred innovation.”

The goal of the repeal is to return to what the FCC chairman referred to as a “light touch approach.” Under the chairman’s proposal, the

federal government would take a step back from policing. “Instead, the FCC would simply require Internet service providers to be transparent about their practices so that consumers can buy the service plan that’s best for them and entrepreneurs and other small businesses can have the technical information they need to innovate.”

Analysts fear that internet providers with take advantage of this agreement and could restrict internet access for further profits. In May of 2017, Comcast attempted to block states from enforcing net neutrality laws. Before the official vote occurs, the complete proposal will be released more than 3 weeks before the December 14th vote. Therefore, can expect the exact wording for the law to be released within the next few days.

As or developments continue to arise we will make sure to let you all know about them. If you are interested in contacting your representative about net neutrality you can click here to find them by submitting your ZIP code.

WillRock – #SYNTHWAVE

0
WillRock synthwave guitar
WillRock is a British virtuoso guitarist who is influenced by the sounds of video games.

WillRock is a British guitarist who has just emerged on synthwave scene.  He had some great tracks on the web, so we reached out to him.  Here’s what he had to say.

11/21/2017 – You’re newest album is only three tracks long, and only one of them is a ‘synthwave’ track.  But, there’s a special story behind it.  You’re raising money for your friend who has cancer.

Yes, you’ve pretty much covered the basics on this already, there isn’t too much for me to add – the album was put together for my friend who has cancer – all proceeds go towards her treatment. That synthwave track is actually going to be on an upcoming Synthwave EP I’m working on!

As for the album, You can buy it here: https://willrock.bandcamp.com/album/restless-heart

Lets go back to your previous album, Journey To The Centre Of The World. You included a cover of the infamous ‘Moon Theme’ from the Ducktales NES game.  What is it about this particular song that attracts so many musicians to cover the song?  (BTW: Very nice original arrangement of the tune).

I guess it is “infamous” to a point, being so popular but to me, its just an amazing song. The melodies are a work of genius, in my opinion. As for why I picked it, I was used to doing less known stuff for OverClocked Remix albums/competitions and I just wanted to cover something more popular! Its inclusion on Journey to the Centre of the World was a suggestion of my sisters, who told me the sound fit with the albums style.

Obviously, your guitar playing is top notch and at the forefront of your tracks.  Do you consider yourself a guitarist first and foremost who also likes synthwave music or is it the other way around?

It’s a little hard for me to answer this question. You might have noticed that my synthwave music has a strong rock influence. I’m pretty much an 80s rock guy. Bon Jovi, Journey, Van Halen, Toto, W.A.S.P., Whitesnake… Musically I take my cues from them, but Vince Dicola is also a massive influence on my work which comes through very strongly in my Synthwave.

I don’t listen to Synthwave as much as general 80s rock so I think the most “correct” answer I can give you is i’m more of a guitarist who also likes synthwave. That said, i’m probably more into my synths overall.

How is the overall music scene in the UK now?  Are bands still playing live and people supporting shows?

For Synthwave, I can’t say – I’m too new in that field – but there is a chiptune scene of sorts down in london thats doing well, and there’s plenty of opportunities for gigs at gaming conventions too, which I perform at sometimes.

What about the electronic music scene?  Is it thriving?

In general? Electronic is a very broad term – I’d need more specifics – but I’d assume so! hahahaha

Are you currently working on any new chiptune music?

I am actually! I have a collaborative project planned with my friend Emery “DaMonz” Monzerol for 2018, but as of right now, I’m focusing my attention on my Synthwave EP.

Which video games are you playing these days?

In general, people have been playing Sonic Mania and Cuphead mostly. As for me, I am a terrible person who doesn’t follow trends, so I’ve been playing Quake III Arena and Final Fantasy VI.

Anything else you would like to promote or share?  Any friends in the genre you’d like to give a shout out too?

Check out OverClocked Remix and GameChops for game remixes, Tiny Waves and Ubiktune for game inspired music, and Chiptunes=Win for Chiptune. You’re bound to find some amazing music there from many of my good friends. The only person I work with who is out of these circles is Valentino Francavilla who has provided amazing Iron Maiden style vocals on my music over the years. He’s an incredible musician and is part of a band called Shockfront, who are band inspired by 80s giants such as Scorpions or Dokken. They released an album on bandcamp you can find here: https://shockfront.bandcamp.com/releases

LawBreakers: A Challenger to the Hero FPS Arena Scene?

0

Written by Jonathan Lee, November 20, 2017, 10:00 PM. Tweet to: @Writerscube

Green bolts of death whiz overhead. Streams of hot lead tear through the air from one side of this cyber-futuristic-Asian-fusion-styled irregular arena. And there I am, grenade launcher in hand, watching someone’s Harrier-type hero soar through the air, dodging all of that fire, and landing within a half-broken globe sculpture where the objective is located. If I don’t stop that guy, he’s going to take that objective to his base, charge it up, and score for his team. If I don’t blow him up with this grenade launcher…

And then BAM! Ker-runch-splode goes my character as fifty different projectiles of death smash into me, obliterating my body into billions of bloody giblets.

Enter LawBreakers.

Developed by Boss Key Productions, helmed by Cliff Bleszinski who had worked with Epic Games for twenty years before starting Boss Key Productions, this arena shooter was initially code-named BlueStreak before being released as LawBreakers. Since its release, it has been garnering much positive praise. And some… even say it presents a breath of fresh air in a world that’s been heavily occupied by the likes of Overwatch and other eSports favorites. But can it contend with the kings of the eSports arena? Time will tell. But until then, it seems that the slow-growing fan base of LawBreakers is steadfastly holding onto the notion that this game has the potential to rock the status quo by bringing back the glory of the earlier days of FPS multiplayer shooters.

Where New Meets Classic

When you play your first three hours of this game, you’ll walk away from it nodding to yourself in nostalgic revelry (you’ll also probably die quite a few times). The reason is because while this game bears some resemblances to the likes of other Hero Shooters, it also carries a lot of inspiration from the likes of Unreal Tournament and Quake Arena. You might ask how do I figure that? And well, it’s all in the phrase of the trailer: Bring Your Skills.

Back in the day, the likes of Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 required that you exercised a high degree of precision in your targeting. Everyone had access to the same plethora of high powered firearms, what was NOT equal was the skills of the players.

In LawBreakers, while not every character has access to the same weaponry, the challenge of skilled precision returns with the introduction of the game’s innate fast-paced action. Whether the game mode is Blitzball, Uplink, Turf War, or Overcharge, it’s either you learn to move fast, aim fast, and kill fast—or you’ll be dying fast. Aside from some special abilities, there really isn’t any hold-your-hands aim assistance.

So take aim. Never hestitate. And always. Be. First to pull the trigger!

The Characters

The main cogs in this machine are the characters. You’re ready to prove yourself in a new arena, with new rules of engagement, and a pace a little faster than your current fare. We’re going to spend some time looking at the different characters you can choose from, and how to utilize them to their utmost lethal potential.

The Vanguard

Much like the name goes, this is a character you want to go charging head-first into combat. Armed with a minigun, you can turn most people into swiss cheese while taking the punishment they’re capable of dishing out. What’s more, you’ll also have cluster grenades with which to lob at your foes, adding some of that sweet DPS to the stream of hot lead you’re spraying from your main weapon.

So where’s the speed? We’re getting right to that. Every character has a form of dash-move. The Vanguard happens to get a really cool one—basically, the Vanguard gets to fly. Yep, so long as you have the boost juice to do it, you can fly around the map with guns blazing!

And that’s not all. Much like the Hero Arena Shooter genre has established, there needs to be some really cool super special ability involved. And this game is no exception. The Vanguard’s allows you to leap into the air, set your sights on a poor, unfortunate soul, and rocket-boosted ground pound them to a mushy bloody paste!

The Titan

Remember those days of Quake 3 where everyone was firing rocket launchers all over the place? Before even Halo came along, those were the days of when everyone learned the jump-shoot techniques of rocket slaying.

Well, enter the Titan. This guy’s your real rocket man. This one’s pretty self-explanatory as to what he does with that rocket launcher. But he comes with other goodies as well. Along with your trusty rocket launcher, you’ll also have proximity mines that slow down your enemies, making them sweet targets for your explosives. And if they want to try closing in on you? No problem, you’ve got a supercharged ground-pounding leap that’ll smash any in your way.

And when your special is charged up—it’s Berserk time! Imagine seeing Bane from Batman running around shooting lightning from his fingertips like Emperor Palpatine, and you’ll have a pretty good image of what it’s like seeing a Titan chasing after you so he can fry you to a crisp.

The Enforcer

One of my favorites. The Enforcer is your standard soldier type who doesn’t need any frills to make himself an indispensable part of any team. Armed with an assault rifle, you’ll have plenty of chances to hit your targets, but they won’t keep their distance. They’re going to come for you.

Facing off against the formidable Wraith or Assassin? Use your Electromag grenade to disrupt their special abilities, and then take them out. Need a quick escape? Try your distortion field, which gives you a movement boost (but also increases your rate of fire and reload speed—Yeah! More bullets!)

And finally, the coup de grace—when your opponent has the Blitzball and you absolutely need to stop them, it’s time to release the hounds. With the Enforcer’s Bloodhound Launcher special ability, you can lock on to an enemy and destroy them with a trio of homing missiles. An excellent way to put a stop to an enemy team’s plans to score a goal in Blitzball or Uplink.

The Juggernaut

I love robots. They’re cool looking, and they usually can do even cooler things! So I had to try the Juggernaut first when I had first gotten this game. And I got absolutely thrashed.

The Juggernaut is arguably a support character. Which makes his name slightly misleading. For sure, he’s extremely deadly (I’ve been getting the most kills with this guy), but only if you know how to use him right. He looks like he’s just meant to kill everything and everyone, your everyday murder robot. But while he’s armed with a powerful shotgun and a retractable bayonet (which does some major damage), you’ll want to actually play him supportively. He works well in tandem with teammates because he has a shield wall ability that compliments everyone, especially during capture and hold matches like Turf War. When you need time to reload your weapon, and block off a choke point to your objective, deploying that shield can save you and your team some damage, as well as provide some breathing room.

Need to get somewhere quick? The Juggernaut’s dash ability gives him the momentum to make far-reaching leaps as well as

Even better, the Juggernaut can also boost his own defenses with his special ability, which gives him an extra layer of armor, reducing damage, and keeping you alive for a little longer while you wade into enemy lines alongside your teammates. Oh, and your rate of fire gets a slight boost too. But get caught alone, and you’ll often get overwhelmed.

The Harrier

The Harrier is another one of those mixed-role characters, equipped with a laser rifle that requires absolute precision. But with jet-powered boots, you can zoom around the arena while harassing opponents with your rifle, knocking their health down as you go. As the name might suggest, your job is to whittle away at your targets until your special ability is ready.

Aside from being a light-attack character, the Harrier also acts as a pseudo-medic by being able to deploy a single health pack every so often. Great when you spot a teammate in trouble while you’re doing your zip-zoom-bzap thing.

And then comes the special ability. Once charged, your laser attack becomes something akin to Iron Man’s chest beam: whatever’s in the way is done for! Great for racking up multi-kills too in a crowded room. Save this for when targets are all clustered up trying to steal an uplink or capture a control point in Turf War, you won’t regret it.

The Gunslinger

It’s no space cowboy, but the Gunslinger is exactly what you’d imagine. Armed with two pistols, Alpha and Omega, this death-obsessed character has two ways for you to deal out death from a distance. First is Alpha, a rapid-fire burst pistol that will be your main form of attacking your targets. Then comes Omega, the charge pistol. With Omega, it’ll be more like firing a railgun in Quake 3. Like the Harrier, Omega requires absolute precision to hit its mark, but the reward is a high-damage impact that’ll usually finish off any weakened opponent.

But that’s not all. The Gunslinger also has a warp ability to speed himself across the map, as well as a way to combo that with his guns. Fire Alpha upon exiting warp and you’ll fire both guns in a series of devastating attacks, giving you the element of surprise and hopefully as quick execution.

With the Gunslinger’s handy tactical knife, you can not only stick a target with it, but it generates a sonar that reveals enemy positions within a certain radius. Great for hunting!

And last but not least, when you’ve had enough of your opponents’ shenanigans, it’s time to use the Equalizer special ability—by overcharging your guns, you unleash a torrent of high-damage energy bullets that can mow down a crowd if they’re so unlucky to be in your way.

The Medic

I’ve always been a sucker for healer classes. Whether it’s a hero shooter or a MMO, I enjoy being that guy that keeps everyone else alive. And this game was no exception. My best character and top favorite role ended up being the Medic. But it wasn’t just for the healing. This character could also dish out some pain once you get used to the grenade launcher’s firing arc.

The Medic’s offensive capabilities are limited, but not ineffective. With a grenade launcher that can fire both explosive and timed grenades, there are ways a Medic can hold a choke point on their own (especially cramped hallways in certain maps). But when a grenade launcher isn’t too effective for a situation, there is also a burst energy pistol that the Medic can fall back on. You’ll generally want to stick around your teammates and use your grenade launcher for mainly supportive action. One-on-One combat is usually not recommended, unless you’re in an enclosed map with a lot of small halls (in which case, you can go from a healer to a killing machine).

The Medic’s main job is to use his/her healing drones to restore up to two players at a time. As a character trait, the Medic also heals over time while doing this, eliminating the need to rush for medical packs or healing stations. And wherever there’s a teammate in need, the Medic’s hover boots allow for a speedy arrival.

The Medic’s special ability is a healing bubble that not only restores the health of the Medic and teammates, but also serves as a defensive shield against incoming fire. When it comes to making sure your team makes it to the finish line, the Medic is what you want!

The Assassin

Speedy, agile, and deadly—everything you expect the Assassin to be. Armed with taser machetes as her main weapon of choice, your job is to get in close and finish your opponent off quick. With a light grappler, you’ll find it easy to navigate maps and get to where you need to be to do just that. And with the ability to quickly dash, you can traverse maps swiftly and with ease—all to get that sweet kill in.

As a secondary weapon, the Assassin has an energy shotgun that has a burst and charged fire mode. If you’re dealing with an opponent that’s able to match your mobility, this weapon is handy in ensuring you have a way to fight.

The Assassin also has flux grenades, which generate a field that displaces enemy projectiles as well as the enemies themselves. Think of it as a defensive concussion grenade.

Then comes the Assassin’s special ability—Frenzy. The Assassin’s attacks not only deal increased damage, but they also gain life steal, allowing you to fight longer, and fight harder!

The Wraith

Like the Assassin, the Wraith is about speed, closing in with the enemy, and taking out your opponent before they have a chance to do anything. The Wraith works a little different, however.

The first weapon in the Wraith’s arsenal is an auto-machine pistol. Now don’t let the “pistol” part fool you, this weapon is quite effective when used in combination with the Wraith’s mobility. With the ability to leap, slide-dash, and rebound off of surfaces, the Wraith is able to dart around an enemy position while unleashing a barrage of bullets.

The second weapon is where the real fun is. Best used when the enemy is softened up by the machine pistol, the Wraith can use a dash-attack with his short sword. With its high damage profile, this attack usually finishes off most opponents if you’ve done enough with your pistol.

A little fun skill is also the Stinger dagger. When thrown, it can do damage to an opponent, but whether it sticks an opponent or an inanimate surface, the dagger will explode when shot causing great damage. This is handy if your opponent is trying to act all cool and thinks he/she can dodge you forever. You’re not going to let that happen!

Last but not least, the Wraith’s special ability is the ability to slow down your enemies. The last thing an enemy wants to be is slow when facing off against a Wraith. Once slowed, your targets are just begging to die, waiting for you to move in and stab them in the face!

Final Thoughts

LawBreakers had a bit of a slow start, and its player base has dropped significantly since it’s opening. But BossKey has been very proactive in their patching up of issues, as well as adding on improvements. When I had first started, I couldn’t check out my stash drops without having to opt out of Matchmaking. Now, I can check my stash drops while waiting for the next match to begin. The character progression isn’t too slow either. As the game’s trailer motto goes, this game rewards skill, and the better you play, the quicker your player progression will be. But even as you’re learning the game, leveling up isn’t too slow as to prevent you from enjoying some goodies along the way. Fun rewards while still remaining accessible, I believe this will be a great selling point for new FPS players, while FPS veterans of both the Quake/Unreal scene and those of Overwatch will find this game to be entertaining and refreshing. Also for those familiar with the Tribes game franchise, you’ll find the crazy mobility in this game to be welcoming.

The game modes aren’t anything new, but it is the map design that makes the game modes so much fun. Currently, the map variety is small (they’re making more!), but that’s because of how much labor has been put into creating them. There are so many ways to approach an objective. So many twisting halls, thematic sets, and cool aesthetics that double as means to get around the map and kick your opponent’s teeth in. Then there’s the neat little anti-gravity nodes that litter the maps that allow you to hover and zip around in the air, giving you an advantageous position to attack while also giving you some unpredictable mobility to throw your enemies off—that’s something I’ve never seen in any FPS game, arena shooter or otherwise.

LawBreakers offers itself as an homage to the classic shooters, and offers a competitive taste to today’s shooters, it also wants to push the envelope and introduce something new.

Does this game really pose a challenge to the current leader Overwatch? That’s still pending. And despite the player drops, there is a loyal fan base that’s holding out and trying to grow. Currently on Steam, LawBreakers has a “Very Positive” All rating and a “Mixed” Recent rating. I personally think it’s a blast, and Boss Key is taking steps to continually improve and update it, as well as giving new content for free. But is it a Buy? If you’re looking to support a new arena shooter, then I’d say yes! But if you’re looking to get your bang for your buck, presently it may be best to wait for a Steam sale. Me? I’m hoping Lawbreakers will find its way into the mainstream, and I’ll keep playing it while I wait for it to happen.

MoweLan – #synthwave

More synthwave from The Hague, Netherlands

synthwaveEd van der Molen’s stage name is MoweLan.  Another talented musician in the international growing pool of forward thinking electronic artists.  Drawing from cinematic soundscapes, video games and his own background in electric guitar, Molen shapes well crafted tracks that emote the sounds and sensations of the 80’s and 90’s.  Although he feels his music better for listening, due in part to it’s subtle complexities, his art occasionally finds it’s way into the music nightclubs of Europe.

We reached out to him to get the drop on his latest project and when it might be coming out.
#SYNTHWAVE

11/20/2017 – Thanks for talking to Slickster Mag.  We recently interview Timecop 1983, who is also from your native country, The Netherlands.  He told us that live shows with multiple synthwave artists is drawing more people to the genre.  Do you agree?  Have you been doing any live shows lately?

Timecop1983 is a great guy. I’ve met him once during a synthwave live show with multiple artists. The thing I find difficult with live shows is that people often wanna dance instead of just listening. I think my music is better suitable for listening while traveling. I really like it when music can transport your mind to another world. Driving with a great sunset along with a suitable track will make that moment so much more intense.

I haven’t done any liveshow’s recently. Partly because I recently moved (which kept me really occupied), and partly because I think my music is more suitable for a concert instead of a live show.

Currently, your next upcoming album is 80% done and you are moving into the mixing phase.  What can you tell us about the new album?  What will it be like, and can fans expect your classic sound or some new directions?

My new album has much more funk influences. Since the whole synthwave genre took off, I always tried to use some of the genres ‘ingredients’ and make my own style out of it. There will be more songs with vocals, but the general cinematic (emotional) style will still be there!

One of your tracks, ‘Out of the Rain’ is very popular on your Soundcloud page.  Can you describe how you compose a track like this?  Do you have an idea first and then craft some loops and melody?

Out of the rain actually started off as an introduction track for a live show. I wanted an epic opening before letting the other songs kick in. That whole concept kinda got out of hand and I made a whole track out of it. Most of the times I start out with a melody that I loop. Then I start to add bass notes that will be the fundament for the chords.
The idea behind that track was that after a very long time of having a creative block, I finally created a new track. After that I promised myself not to release new tracks until I’ve completed my album!

Did you study music formally, and play any live instruments?

I started out playing keyboard when I was like 8 year old (1994). After a few years I wanted to play guitar because I thought that would be cooler. Ha! I continued to play guitar until I discovered progressive rock in 2002. Because prog rock has many synths, I started to gain intrest in keys again. After a while I got really obsessed with synths which slowly got me more interested in the 80’s genre. Funny thing is that I really used to hate the whole 80’s sound, and now I can’t live without it! So weird.

I got my bachelor in audio production but many things I do I just learn myself. For my songs I play synth, guitar, bass guitar and the occasional percussion.

Wave Racer .gif, N64Recently, you did of cover of a track from the N64’s Wave Racer.  How has video games and video games OST’s impacted your development as a musician?

Wave Racer is great. It is one of those games I played just to hear the tracks! I bet many people can relate. I think growing up with the SNES, N64 etc has been a blessing for my music. I vividly remember playing Donkey Kong Country for the first time. The underwater song, aquatic ambience, was just so perfect and it still is! Sometimes I wonder if it’s just the nostalgia but when I compare it with modern games, I think theres a huge gap in music quality. Everything has to be epic… It’s just boring.

Can you name your top three favorite video game tracks or composers?
1 – Donkey Kong Country 2 – Stickerbrush Symphony (this was a hard one)
2 – Zelda Windwaker – Dragon Roost Island
3 – Mario 64 – Dire Dire Docks

When will your new album be available for purchase and how can fans buy it?  Are there other ways to help support you?

Right now I’m aiming for beginning of march. It’s crazy how time flies by. I’m planning to release it via Spotify and next to that also for sale so people can download it. I like the idea of people deciding them self what to pay for your album. If they want to pay 10 dollars, that’s great and if they want to pay 0 dollars, that’s cool also. I never made my music with profit in mind. More followers on Soundcloud would be great! It never really took off but it’s still slowly growing. On Facebook it is hard to get a fan base since you have to boost most of your post with money.

Thanks again for taking the time to talk to Slickster Magazine about your next album.  Is there anyone else you’d like to mention or promote?

No problem! Last thing I wanna mention is that I really would like to collaborate with a few artists. There is something great about having two styles come together. So if you’re reading this, send me a message on Soundcloud!

Kick Ass Kickstarter: Cosmo’s Quick Stop

0

I always dreamed that one day I would run my own gas station. Turns out, you can do that today! Only in space! That’s right, the award-winning Cosmo’s Quick Stop is our newest addition to kick ass kick starter. You may remember them for winning most addicting game when we were at Indy Pop Con this year. The fast-paced action, delightfully quirky style, and the oh-so-satisfying “COMBO!” mechanic made it impossible for me to put down. After checking out the even more refined version courtesy of Big Sir Games, I’ve fallen even more in love with our little bug alien thing.

Gameplay

The fast-paced action in Cosmo’s Quick Stop lends itself to the marathon mini game style. You’re constantly playing quick little puzzles and mini-games in order to service your customers as quickly as possible. Whether it’s cleaning up stinky latrines, when people directions to a certain planet, avoiding asteroids in your spaceship, for filling up the gift shop: You never run out of something to do. In fact you’ll probably fail at doing a lot of this stuff at once. Suddenly you’ll be stuck with seven different orders of four different things, and you hear the fail noise repeatedly. But there’s no time to wallow because you’ve got another four orders to complete. And once you’re able to tap the unlock button several times in a row, you’ll be treated to the most satisfying combo sound this side of Killer Instincts ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAA COMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Style

Cosmo's Quick Stop Gif
Pump it up!

I mentioned before how the game has a quirky style. The best way I could put it would be a mix of Futurama and the inhabitants of the series Samurai Jack. However, it take some more whimsical approach to everything. While the previous two could be admittedly dark at times, Cosmo’s Quick Stop is a much more happy-go-lucky dial. The game is a lot more approachable for younger audiences. Not to say the other two arts in some ways, but this is a very family-friendly game. The sound effects are cartoony, the colors are bright and beautiful, and the cast of characters is varied. If you’re not into that kind of silly sci-fi dial it won’t be for you. But for everybody else in the world, it looks fantastic.

The user interface for the game is also very simple and easy. The different stations are numerically and color-coordinated set remember where you need to be and the icons make it obvious what needs to be done. The fact that you can change the style and layout of the store while upgrading also adds to the variety.

Final thoughts on Cosmo’s Quick Stop

I would say that this is a game that you can pick up and play anytime, but that doesn’t say enough good things about how addictive this game is. Even when I had dozens of games to check out and while at Indy Pop Con, I was wondering to myself “When am I going to get a break can go and play Cosmo’s Quick Stop again?” the game is just that damn addicting. I’m pretty sure if this game ever came to mobile systems, the world would cease to function from everybody being addicted to this game. No Society, only coffee showers and gift shops.

So go check out the kickstarter for Cosmo’s Quick Stop and support them.

The Bride – The blue balls of horror movies

Russian horror movie cock teases for hours

The Bride delivers scares, but the payoff isn’t worth the wait.

11/18/2017 – Hey guys, have you ever been on a date with a girl and you can feel the attraction between you two?  It’s fourth or fifth time you’ve been out and sparks have been flying.  All week she’s been telling you that her roommate is away for the weekend and the sexting has been off the charts nasty.

Saturday night rolls around, you meet up and have a great date.  She invites you in to her place and the action starts to get hot n’ heavy.  Then…

For whatever reason; she got cold feet, you said something stupid about her favorite band, or whiskey dick makes a sudden and embarrassing appearance, and instantly the night comes to a grinding, smashing abrupt halt.  You’ve had a raging hard-on for the last three hours and now you have to face the cold truth; You and your little brother won’t be crossing the finish line tonight.  And from the looks of it, maybe for a while if you fucked up that bad.

There is a dull throbbing pain local to the region of the groin.  Congratulations, you just got blue balled.  Blue balls is a slang term for the condition of temporary fluid congestion in the testicles accompanied by testicular pain, caused by prolonged sexual arousal in the human male without ejaculation.

This is a perfect metaphor for The Bride, a Russian-made horror movie from 2017.  This suspenseful film leaves you hanging on the edge of your seat for so long, that by the time you reach the end, you wish you would have just watched something else instead.

Maybe Train to Busan.  Zombies are always a win in my book.

Writer/ director Svyatoslav Podgaevskiy conjures up a decent suspenseful thriller.

The story, while convoluted at times is actually pretty good.  Jumping back and forth between historical Russia and modern times, a young woman becomes the target of her fiancé’s creepy family.  The family has plenty of skeletons in the closet, sometimes literally, and The Bride becomes the target for the supernatural evil that haunts the house.  With dark lighting, strong ambient music and interesting camera angles, The Bride does create a an atmosphere of suspense.  The viewer is never quite sure if this particular scene is going to be the one where the malevolent being is going to finally appear.

So, you wait.  And you are thinking to yourself, “Here it comes!”  But, Nastya, (the young bride) escapes and the tension in the scene is releases.  Then it builds again. And again, nothing happens.  And again, and again, and again.  I’m looking at the clock now.  I’ve been watching this movie for over 45 minutes and still no major scare.

Victoria Agalakova, The Bride
Victoria Agalakova is the sexy blonde Russian actress in the The Bride (2017).

Victoria Agalakova (Nastya) delivers a solid performance as the tormented young lady.  Beautiful and sexy, it’s easy to see why she was cast in the role.  Speaking of blue balls, in the post title crawl scene, she prances around the apartment in her thong panties.  That would be enough to blue ball any male horror fan watching The Bride.  Yet, there are key plot elements surrounding her virginity.  Agalakova does her best to embrace the roll of modern scream queen.  She isn’t a damsel in distress, but the opposite.  Nastya doesn’t wait for the knight in shining armor to come and rescue her, she often takes matters into own hands and works to find solutions to problems.

Worth watching, but be prepared to wait.

If you’re looking for a horror thriller, I recommend The Bride.  The movie is subtitled for non-Russian speaking viewers.  There are plenty of spooky moments, but the final climax takes so long to arrive I wasn’t invested in the movie when it finally did.

Nelo is Coming to Early Release on Steam

Written by Jonathan Lee, November 17, 2017, 12:00 AM. Tweet to: @Writerscube

*It is important to note that Nelo is coming out as an Early Release. The copy I played was of the latest Alpha build, so there is still plenty of work to be done. And when it comes out, it’ll still be getting worked on. Whatever you may think of this First Impression, there is more awesome to be had as this game evolves!

Coming this November 20th is Nelo on Steam!

Rising from a Kickstarter funding campaign, developer and publisher Magic and Mirrors has come a long way in moving Nelo along towards Early Release. After getting my hands on a copy of the Alpha build, I can say without a doubt that they’ve been hard at work in creating a unique action game that’s bound to please a lot of science fiction and action fans!

The game will be coming out on Steam as an Early Release. However, don’t let that fool you. This game is looking pretty neat, even in the Alpha stage. While I haven’t finished it, I haven’t run into a single bug yet since their latest Alpha build. That’s a first for me, so I’m impressed! And it looks like Magic and Mirrors are quite active in patching things as they’re reported.

What Have I Found Out So Far

You play as Nelo, a power-armored soldier of a highly-advanced race of beings that, from what I’ve gathered, are certainly not human (You’ll notice the three digit hands and tail kind of give it away). From there, you’ll discover your armaments. Through either technology or some ability, you can either shoot your enemies (robotic creatures created by a program gone horribly wrong “Night Scythe”) or hack away at them in wicked-cool close combat. The combat is intense as you can boost your speed up so that you’re zooming around your enemies, harrying them with shots, or closing in for the kill. And what’s more? The effects of both the guns and the close combat attacks make for a visual techno-feast for the eyes.

Also there’s a little neat mechanic in Nelo that allows you to fight from a top-down perspective if that’s your thing. Just having that as a choice was pretty sweet, and a neat consideration on the developer’s part.

And did I mention the beats in Nelo’s soundtrack are great? They’re great. They marry wonderfully into the game’s visual aesthetic and the frenetic pace of combat.

Final Thoughts

Pseudo-final thoughts, folks. I’m definitely checking this out during each phase of development. After all, this is just the beginning for Nelo. I’m sure much will change over time as Magic and Mirrors continues to work on it. But let me tell you all, from how clean the presentation already is in just the Alpha stage, I’m feeling confident that this game will shape up just wonderfully. Like I said earlier, I’ve never run into an Alpha stage this clean. I was shocked. So with that said, give this game a try! Why wouldn’t you try a game that’s like Vanquish meets Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance?

Nightstop

Interview with synthwave artist NightStop.

Synthwave reaching new audiences.

11/16/2017 – Does anyone know how to pronounce Jyväskylä, Finland? We don’t either, but one of it’s citizens goes by the name Nightstop.  Another in the European synthwave musical alliance, we had a short talk with NightStop about video games, getting started creating electronic music and more.

Direct from Jyväskylä, NightStop is another member of the synthwave family in Finland.  Let’s go way back… how did you get your start making electronic music?

As a 80s pop culture fanatic, the movie “Drive” and its soundtrack totally blew my mind. I went totally bonkers, wasn’t able to sleep and went to the internet to buy cheap a midi keyboard the same night. I had very little knowledge about producing electronic music. Then I learned to use softwares, hit some keys of my keyboard and watched what happened.

What advice would you like to share with your younger self at the beginning of the process?  Are there maybe a few lessons that you’ve ‘learned the hard’ way, that you wish someone would have told you?

I still “learn the hard way” about everything, haha. By the end of each passing year I notice something that I would have done differently in the past.

To the younger me: “Learn to compress your shit, dickweed!” In 2012-2013 I had a choice to sit down and learn about music producing or make tracks that sound like they come out of 80s Toyota Corolla cassette deck, I chose the later and it was a choice that I will not regret.

Your most recent project is the OST for Time Recoil, a video game.  How did that come about and what was it like working with Sampo Töyssy (and team)?

Sampo gave me a very short deadline and it felt like a good challenge. I was quite satisfied with my part of the OST. Sampo was a very chill dude to work with.

Do you have any more OST’s on the calendar for 2018?

Yes, but they are for films and still secret to everybody, sorry. I would definitely love to work more with video games.

When working on a video game OST what are the major challenges you must overcome as a synthwave musician?

It’s all about timing and atmosphere. I found that first I did very progressive stuff but learned soon to trim down my tracks. I have also worked in couple of mobile games and found out that not all synthwave elements work as smoothly as I would like. So picking the right sounds and making loopable material is crucial.

Video games seem to be a major part of your influences.  So much in fact, you list one classic NES game, Ninja Gaiden, as a concerstone of your development.  Is there something specific about Ninja Gaiden that draws you to it?

Aah, Ninja Gaiden (or Shadow Warriors in Europe). I have never actually given it a thought, but now that I think of it, Ninja Gaiden offered very versatile soundtrack. Fast, aggressive, dangerous and sometimes beautiful. So many things and elements can be found in my own compositions.

Ninja Gaiden is legendarily difficult.  Are you the caliber of gamer that can guide Ryu through all the levels and defeat it without cheating?

Haha, no game beats the mighty NightStop! No cheats, never. Real hardware and no emulation, savestates etc. I had an obsession to see ending credits and with commitment (and lots of angry and childish frustration) I did. So do not do cheats kids, stay old school.

What would you like to promote to your fans locally and internationally?  Anything goes!

Let’s see. What should I promote… You can order my vinyl, cassettes etc. from different web stores, but promoting my own music is boring… damn, I just promoted my own music.

Play some Shadowrun (SNES)! It’s really good and has an amazing and dank soundtrack. 10/10.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to Slickster Magazine.  Last question… name your top five 80’s swimsuit models!

Thank you, it was my pleasure. Oh man this is hard without cheating and looking names from internet. Lets try:

1. Samantha Fox

2. Tanya Roberts

3. Dian Parkinson

4. Sybil …Dangi..Dankin.. Danning

5. Sabrina Salerno

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Explodes onto Nintendo Switch

by Nintendo from Wikipedia

Nintendo Switch has so much content. Mario is out. ARMS, a newer intellectual property, is out and only gets beefier. Splatoon 2 is available and only gets stronger. The Nintendo Switch eShop is stuffed after its early Thanksgiving meal. Now, get ready for the world of Alrest, a land of “Titans” and of Elysium. December 1, 2017 marks the release of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2. This is a massive game, with grand environments, a unique battle system, and characters. In a Nintendo Direct, Nintendo presented plans for paid downloadable content, cross-promotion with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and free downloadable content, available on launch day. This will allow players to play the game with Japanese audio and English subtitles.Hear it all from Nintendo below.

“With Xenoblade Chronicles 2, we are giving fans yet another engaging adventure that can only be found on Nintendo Switch,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This sequel is perfect for playing at home or while traveling during the busy holiday season.”

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the anticipated sequel to the original role-playing game on the Nintendo Wii, in 2012. This sequel offers new characters, worlds, and an expanded battle system that will still feel familiar to fans of the first game. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Blades are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers to lend them their weapons and powers in battle. Rex, the main character, is a Driver and Pyra is a Blade. A new side quest will be available to help familiarize fans with main character Rex, before the game launches. This is available through a free update in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, on both Nintendo Switch and Wii U systems. Players will be able to obtain a Rex costume starting on November 9, 2017

presented by Nintendo

.
Blades have a wide array of support abilities. As you play and explore the game, these abilities might increase the number of items that can be collected, open up new paths to explore or initiate other special effects. When players fight alongside their chosen Blade, they might trigger effects that protect the Driver, strengthen attacks and so forth. Abilities differ from Blade to Blade, so selecting different Blades adds to the strategy of battle.

Blades are just one form of life that players will encounter while journeying on the backs of the mighty Titans. In the vast world of Alrest, players will discover both peaceful and aggressive wildlife of all shapes and sizes wandering among giant plains, winding caverns, frozen kingdoms, scorched earth and sandy beaches. If players manage to defeat certain Unique Beasts, a tombstone will be left behind to commemorate the creature and allow players to relive those battles for additional rewards.

While traveling the massive world of Alrest, players will run into shining spots called Collection Points – which give players the opportunity to pick up valuable items or dive under the clouds to salvage hard-to-find treasures – or special landmarks that players can transport to at any time. Alrest is also teeming with bustling cities. From shopping districts to residential quarters, each Titan has its own unique layout and atmosphere.

HARDCORE Claymation – NSFW – WTF!?

Rock band Lydia Can’t Breathe debuts a NSFW claymation video.

Further proof that low budget doesn’t mean bad.

11/15/17 – Now that Robot Chicken has won multiple Emmy awards, the door is wide open for edgy use of stop motion animation.  Rockers LCB have tapped into this with a new claymation video that features hardcore sex scenes, simulated fellatio, eating dog shit and whole lot more.   A format that was once best know for the lovable benign Gumby, has been elevated(?)…. eviscerated(?) …. let’s go with LIBERATED to boldy go where no clay has gone before.

We reached out to the creators of the video, and had a good laugh about the video.  Here’s what they had to share.  Obviously, what follows is for adults only. #NSFW

Slickster Mag – First Pillar Studios is Mike Ramsdell and Brendon Paredes. You recently created the NSFW claymation video for the Florida based band Lydia Can’t Breathe.  NSFW (Not Safe For Work) as a warning label has lost some of it’s bite over the years, just like ‘Parental Warning’ did on music back in the 90’s.  However, this video is actually NSFW.  So, how did all of this come around?  Did the band approach you with the idea or did you just run with it?

Mike Ramsdell – The video was definitely a super fun project to work on while also being very challenging. So we started this almost a year ago when the band was tracking their album. We are good friends with Lydia and have worked with them for years on their music and content. We are a unique studio, as we combine both a professional recording studio (www.studio101.cc) and creative video production house (www.firstpillarstudios.com) into one. This makes us a great spot for bands and artists to work. I think this came together kind of symbiotically in a sense that we had started to test and play around with the thought of doing some stop motion clay stuff, LCB saw us working on it and proposed the idea of doing a music video for them using that medium.

Did you guys storyboard this music video?

We started with a concept based around the song. We did a scene by scene shot list and kind of worked from that. We then detailed the possibilities for each scene and outlined what story beats we wanted to hit and what jokes we wanted to do.  We didn’t do a standard storyboard because we wanted to have the freedom to change things on the fly based on what was working and wasn’t working with the clay and camera angles.

Our hero in the music video gets a lot of boners.  Was there any discussion on what the appropriate chubby was? I mean, was there ever a time in dailies when someone uttered a phrase like, “His boner is too big. Or the shape of the nutsack doesn’t look right?”

Haha! Funny you ask- yes there was discussion about the boners. It more or less came down to what was funny. We knew we weren’t making something that was wholesome but we didn’t want to be pornographic…if that’s even possible with clay.

How many photos/poses did you make for each frame?

Let’s just say there were many thousands of photos. Each frame varied depending on the shot.

Is there a special type of clay used to make the puppets, or did you use Play-doh?

Play-Doh doesn’t work great for stop motion. It drys out and it’s hard to pose things. We used plastalina clay (which is oil based and stays plyable) and molded it on to wire armatures.

Alright, I want names.  Whose idea was it to have the dominatrix peg the guy in the ass with a 12″ black dildo?  No hiding from it now. Better just own up.

It was absolutely, 100%, Brendon’s idea.

“It was absolutely, 100%, Brendon’s idea.”

What’s in the future for First Pillar Studios, and how can people get in touch with you?

We’re going to be shooting a 360 music video that tells a story within a completely immersive environment for an indie rock band. That should come up early next year. We’re doing all kinds of things including work with the United States Military, working with West Coast Netting on their new marketing camoaign, and probably doing another video for Lydia. People can email us at firstpillarstudios@gmail.com or call us at 3212090230. Or they can check us out online at www.firstpillarstudios.com and www.firstpillar360.com

Thanks for talking with Slickster Magazine.  Is there anything else you’d like to promote or give a shout out too?

Yeah if you haven’t yet, checkout Lydia Can’t Breate’s latest album “Tastes New” – its awesome. www.Lydiacantbreathe.com

Turbo Knight

SYNTHWAVE producer, Turbo Knight, seeks enlightenment through his music.

Finland synthwave scene continues to grow.

11/14/2017 – Thank you to everyone who has sent encouraging comments about the synthwave music interviews. Continuing the series, we got in touch with Turbo Knight. Based out of Finland, but with an ever growing international following, Turbo Knight, is firmly rooted in 80s synthwave.  Regardless of the genre label; vaporwave, dark synth, trance… whatever you may call it, the Finnish electronic music scene is healthy.  Turbo Knight shared some his own musical history and lessons he’s learned from how to make synthwave.

We’ve scoured your social media and internet pages, but not much is known about Turbo Knight. You are a self proclaimed ‘Self-taught roadwarrior’ and a ‘Producer’ from Finland. That’s about all we know. Who is Turbo Knight and how long have you been composing music?

Turbo Knight is a guy who has been making electronic music since 1993 (So it’s been an journey of almost 25 years). I started with Amiga trackers and after a little while I moved on to PC and Scream Tracker 2. I finished my first complete track at ’94 with Scream Tracker 3. After getting used to trackers I was making noise in the computer demoscene for quite a long while. Somewhere around 2000’s was when I had my first touch with modern DAW’s with Reason. It took me from like two years and shitloads of trance music with it. After that I bought my first synths. MC-303 and Yamaha CS-2x, they’re both really decent synths but I really never got deep enough with them, just using some presets and tried to make listenable music 🙂

We know you are based out of Finland, MEGAHAMMER told us so. Is your fanbase primarily from Europe or do you have a lot followers spread out across the globe?

According to statistics from my sites, USA is the place where people listen my songs the most. Next follows UK, Germany, Canada, Sweden and the sixth, Finland. So you could say that people all around the world like to listen to my music 🙂

Can you please give a quick gear rundown that you use and abuse regularly? Which DAW, computers, plugins, and any acoustic instruments that you play?

I’m really in love with Reaper. It’s almost free ($60 for personal licence, get it!!!), it has incredible features like scripts, spectral editing like in Izotope RX and other amazing workflow speeding things. I have mediocre computer (I5 4690k overclocked, 16GB, GTX 1070) but, my best friend Reaper handles my massive projects nicely. I’ve never known how to play an instrument. I know the basics of music in theory, but I’m more of like the guy who has learned to hear the right chords and notes in my music. I really would love to learn more advanced music theories but there’s so much going on right now with my life that I need to postpone it for later (work, wife, two kids…….)

Synthwave, the music and artwork, draws heavily on the 80’s. It was an excessive era filled with neon and spandex. Seemingly frozen in time, during the post two decades following it, the 80’s were largely written off and shamed. However, that just isn’t the case now. More and more, artists are embracing the creations from that decade of trial and experiment. Why do you think that is?

I think it’s mostly because of nostalgia and musical freedom people had back then. In music industry the synthesizers were a new thing and nobody really had any restrictions on the music they make or genres they should/could do with them, so people were experimenting freely and doing what they wanted. Nowadays, people need to categorize their music to different genres and subgenres way too much, etc. I’ve been trying to get out of that loop and make music what I feel the best, melodic, catchy and without genre restrictions. Right now I’m working on a trance track. Last time I was producing trance was like 10 years ago 😉

Speaking of spandex, who do you think is hotter; The women of aerobics from the 80’s or the fitness models of today?

That’s an really easy question to answer…SPANDEX! Today’s fitness models just aren’t my thing… I love the mysticism BEHIND the spandex 😉

You’ve worked with some film scores correct? Can you talk about that experience and share some news on any upcoming movie/video game OST’s that you have coming up?

I really haven’t worked on the film scores directly, people just have asked me if they can use my music on their independent productions, but future looks bright, I might be getting my track on indie Hollywood project in the near future.

If there was a SYNTHWAVE Thunderdome, and in said THUNDERDOME, synthwave musicians had to duel to the death with Oberheim keyboards. Who would be victorious if Jan Hammer battled Harold Faltermeyer?

I love both, but Jan would win the duel! I’m getting more influences from his airy sounds and more futuristic/dreamy melodies!!

Thank you for chatting with Slickster Magazine and looking forward to a long career from Turbo Knight. Is there anything you’d like to promote to your fans, or anything else we didn’t talk about that you’d like to share with the world?

Thanks. It was my pleasure! Check out my Youtube/Spotify and remember to love each other! My advice to youngsters in the scene is to make your own sound, don’t try to mimic others, keep it your own! And if you’re willing to support me and the label I’m working with (Time Slaves) turbo up and go buy my album from their bandcamp site: https://timeslaves.bandcamp.com/album/rise-of-the-machines
