5 things every guy should know how to do on his car

It doesn’t matter if you own a car, truck or SUV.  There are a few things that you can do to your ride that will help the vehicle run longer and look better.  Working on your car also helps you feel better about yourself by developing skills and increasing your confidence.  As any mechanic can tell you, routine maintenance is the number one thing you can do to keep you car running smoothly, and for a lot longer than than you might think.  So, set aside some time in your busy schedule to spend a few hours and a few dollars every three months and learn these five skills.

5 things every guy should know how to do on his car

Clean, detail and vacuum your car

This is one of the easiest things you can do to give your car, and your self esteem, a good shot in the arm.  While it can be tedious to clean your car, especially if you live in a location where the weather can be inclement, it’s worth it.  Not only will your car look better (and more attractive to women BTW), as you clean it you will become more familiar with the systems of the vehicle.  You might even learn about a new feature your car had that you didn’t even know about.

Start with the vacuuming. If you don’t have a shop vac, and don’t want to borrow or purchase one, you can always pump a few dollars worth of quarters into one of those automatic machines at the local carwash.  Pick up any large loose items before you begin to avoid damaging or clogging the vacuum. Be sure to hit the floor mats and seat cushions extra well, and eliminate any food scraps that might have fallen on the floorboards.

Give the interior of your car a through detailing after vacuuming.  There are plenty of products available that you can purchase right off the shelf.  A large box of shop towels or old rags will help tremendously with this.

Once you have the inside sparklingly clean and smelling good, you can start to clean the outside of the car’s body.  Now is a good time to make sure all of your widows are rolled up all of the way.  Upon completion of the wash, give it a quick wax job too.  Even if your car is only worth a couple of hundred bucks, a deep cleaning will make you feel like millionaire.

Change the oil

Every motor has moving parts, and that creates friction.  Just like the burns in the palm of your hands at the end of NO NUT NOVEMBER, moving parts create heat.  Keeping the engine in your car lubricated with clean oil is absolutely essential for its long life.

Purchasing a few basic tools at your local hardware or big-box store, and five quarts motor oil is a lot cheaper than replacing a engine. The tools will vary based your make and model of your car, and any parts salesman at your local car parts store can help you with this.

Here’s a short list of what you will need:

  • Basic socket set (metric and/or SAE), and ratchet
  • Funnel
  • Oil filter wrench (*See below)
  • Oil pan (Collects the oil)
  • Shop towels

Rotate the tires

The tires on a car or truck are some of the most important items on the vehicle. They are what makes contact with the road surface and allows for acceleration and braking. Rotating the tires on your car not only improves the wear and tread on the tires, it also helps the car run more efficiently and saves money on gasoline.

You will need at least one 2-ton jack and four jack stands. You may also want to borrow your buddy’s (or mechanically inclined neighbor’s) air-powered impact wrench to help speed up the process of removing lugnuts. To ensure your safety, make sure the car is properly stabilized, on level ground, and the brake is set before removing any tires.  Each car will vary on the manufacture’s recommend tire rotation pattern.  Check your owner’s manual (if you have it) or do a little research online before you pull the wheels off.

Change the oil filter

While your under the engine changing the oil, you might as well change the oil filter too.  Most oil filters are less than ten dollars, can be purchase online or at big-box stores, and are easy to change.  There are usually reference guides at the stores to look up which filter you need.  As stated above, a good oil filter wrench (aka a strap wrench), can be extremely useful when you have slippery hands and the filter won’t break loose.  Be careful not to apply too much pressure when cranking on it.  Before you re-install the new filter, dip your finger in the used oil that drained from the engine and lubricate the rubber gasket that is located on the new filter.  This will help the new filter fit tightly and ease in the process of installation.

Change the air filter

Here’s one way to multi-task better than pornstar at a gang bang; You can change the air filter on your car in a few minutes while the oil drains from your engine.

After you remove the oil plug, allow some time for it to drain completely.  While you are waiting for the oil to drain, replace the air filter.  Accessing the air filter on your car is usually easy, and many cars don’t even require any tools to get to the filter.  Automobile air filters, just like tools, motor oil, etc.. can also be purchased online or at local big-box stores.

automobile air filter replacement
Changing in the air filter is a skill every guy should know how to do. It’s cheap and only takes a few minutes to accomplish.

Take a minute to vacuum out any debris that might have snuck into the filter housing before installing the new filter.  Once the new air filter is snuggly in place (correct side upwards), be sure to properly re-close the housing and fasten all connectors.  Save the box that new filter came in, and you can use it to neatly dispose of the soiled air filter.

Bonus: Top off fluids

Here is one extra item that every guy who owns a car or truck should do regularly.  Check the primary fluids in your car and top them off as needed.  This will help you become familiar with your car and the engine, as well as alert you to any problems that may be arising.  When checking the fluids under the hood you will want to check at least the following five critical engine fluids:

  • Power steering fluid
  • Brake fluid
  • Coolant
  • Washer fluid
  • Oil (*See Above)

Nick Leroy Interview

Palm Highway: A cruise into the futuristic-retro sounds of Miami ’87.

Nick Leroy’s newest tracks melts faces with October release.

The electronic music genre known as synthwave has close ties with South Florida.  Miami, FL was the setting for the hit 80’s television show, Miami Vice.  The hard hitting crime drama has had long-lasting impacts on pop culture, with it’s romanticized and realistic stories revolving around the cocaine-importing wars in 1980’s.  Modern music, such as synthwave, draws heavily on this unique and highly attractive era in pop culture.

Nick Leroy’s album, “Palm Highway”, soundly falls into the neon pink drenched landscapes of this sub-genere of synthwave.  Palm Highway was released October 12th, 2020 on JST Records (JSTR141).  Featuring seven all-original tracks of highly listenable synthwave, Palm Highways treats the listener to a serving of aural bliss rife with all the guilty trappings of the Miami nostalgia.

The opening, titular track invites the audience to come along for the ride. It doesn’t take a huge stretch of one’s imagination to envision cruising down the coastal highways of the Atlantic Ocean during the summer of ’86 with the open top of a white luxury vehicle with stunning blonde in the passenger seat next to you. Tasty waves of lush chords swell in and out like the waves lapping the shore, and a rock solid foundation of steady bass lines and drums pulse underneath.  You can practically smell the salt in the air and feel the warm breeze.  Sun screen optional.

JST Records (Jet Set Trash) Owner, Founder and CEO, Zak Deligiannis, was kind enough to arrange an interview Leroy for Slickster Magazine.

Slickster Magazine: Nick, thanks for chatting with Slickster Magazine. You’ve released some EP’s in the past (Police Action, Another World, Ray of Sunshine), but this is your first full length album.  How did you approach this process (creating a longer running time), as opposed to working on one single at a time?

Nick Leroy: Composing an album is a long process which is more difficult than creating a single. All tracks in the album have to follow a theme or a story, while a single is an independent track and you are free to choose instruments and sound effects. No matter whether it fits the theme or not, you can release it because it just  deserves to be heard.

Slickster Magazine: Miami, FL is well known as the lynchpin of the horribly bloody cocaine importing wars of the 1980’s.  Do you feel this fact is overly romanticized or casts a negative shadow on the Synthwave, aka “outrun” genre of music?

Nick Leroy: Many people are not even aware of these facts, the atmosphere that they feel listening to the music and watching the films of that time is more important for them. For me personally, synthwave has nothing to do with these negative associations, synthwave is a pleasant nostalgia for the past.

I also believe that the movie Miami Vice and later the game GTA: Vice City greatly contributed to the development of the Synthwave genre. That’s why some of classic synthwave themes are the sounds of sirens, gunshots, radio stations and the growl of a car engine.

Slickster Magazine: What advice would you like to share with any young musicians who may read this interview and wish to get their start in the music business?

Nick Leroy: Listen to a lot of the music of the genre in which you want to develop, take inspiration from the music you like and don’t be afraid to start creating your own music.

Slickster Magazine:  Nick, you are from Russia.  Can you briefly describe the local electronic music scene in Moscow.  How many acts are there?  Do they produce live events/shows?

Nick Leroy: Regarding synthwave, there are not many people who like this kind of music. Techno, House, Drum and bass are more successful in Russia. Almost all of my friends in the music industry make DnB, they also regularly organize parties and shows, which are quite popular in Moscow.

Slickster Magazine: Where do you predict the future of the synthwave genre is heading in the next 3-5 years?

Nick Leroy: I think that synthwave will remain at its present level. Only if synthwave is mixed with other musical genres, it will get a chance to develop in the future and thus attract more fans.

Nick Leroy
Nick Leroy takes a moment to reflect while gazing upon a river. Leroy’s synthwave album, Palm Highway, was released in October, 2020 on JST Records.

Slickster Magazine: Who are a few of your favorite musicians/artists at the moment?

Nick Leroy: My top 3 musicians at the moment are Apparat, Lifelike, Miami Night 1984. But sometimes I also love to listen to some great artists from the past century: Michael Jackson, Madonna, Phil Collins.

Slickster Magazine: Everyone knows and agrees that Russian woman are very hot and sexy.  Please explain how and why this is.

Nick Leroy: Yes, I agree that Russian women are very beautiful. I think that the secret of their hotness lies in their natural beauty.

Slickster Magazine: Are you writing for any other mediums, ie. video games, movies, YouTube videos?  If so, which projects can you share with us?

Nick Leroy: Yes, I made some soundtracks for the computer game Shut-Eye, but as far as I know, it never went into production. Also, my music can be heard on the film by Alexey Ilyin, where the famous Russian porn actress Elena Berkova played.

Slickster Magazine:  What’s next for Nick Leroy?

Nick Leroy: In the near future I plan to release a new single and also experiment with new genres. Hope you will enjoy it.

Slickster Magazine: Thanks again for taking the time to answer our questions and share your fantastic new album, Palm Highways, with us.  Is there anything we didn’t get the chance to talk about that you would like to share?

Nick Leroy: Thank you very much for the interview and for your interest in my music. I am happy that I have fans in the US, thanks again for your support.

Forgotten B-Movie Babes of the 80’s

Forgotten B-Movie Babes of the 80’s

In the Nineteen Eighties, during the peak of the Cold War, there was carefree attitude that promoted a lifestyle of excess.  Following the horrific conflict in Vietnam and the rise of consumerism, during the eighties bigger was better.  Faster cars, more potent drugs (cocaine) and more.  Cinema, and movie making, was not left unaffected by this trend either.

There were three big B’s in many movies from the 1980s; Big hair, big guns, and big boobs. As filmmakers struggled to give ticket buyers more bang for their buck, movies packed in bigger explosions, more violence, and louder music.  Major blockbusters saw production budgets become colossal, but with the advent of cheaper video recording equipment, not all movies were filmed with big budget backing.

Often times during the 1980s, B-Movies (or lower) were able to compete with films that had much larger amounts of capital to work with.  Prior to the development of the internet and in an era where men largely dominated the industry, women were sometimes related to eye-candy type roles in movies.  Given fewer spoken lines and even less character development, actresses were frequently cast for their physical appearance

This combination of factors led to absolutely stunning women to grace the silver screen. Female actresses often acted in roles where there costumes were skimpy and tight fitting compared to that of their male counterparts.

Taida Urruzola

Taida Urruzola

Taida Urruzola was cast in a few low budget movies in the early 80’s.  Not much is known about Urruzola.  Her movies were so bad, you can now watch them for free on many streaming platforms. If cut off jean shorts up to the butt cheeks and jiggly boobs aren’t your thing, then you should probably skip her movies.  What ever happened to having some testosterone in the costume department anyway?  #metoohorny

Lorie Griffin

Lorie Griffin’s time was short in the spotlight of the movie screen.  Perhaps her biggest role that she landed was opposite of Michael J. Fox in the 1985 Teen Wolf.  She portrayed the popular girl, Pamela, who wouldn’t give the nerd the time of day until he became the popular kid at school.  Ok, so it’s not really a B-Movie, and was actually a pretty good movie. Lots of iconic scenes and funny tales of puberty made their way into this 80’s classic. Griffin was later cast in the 80’s slasher film, Cheerleader Camp (1987) and then faded away from her career in acting.

There was a time when Disney made movies that were pretty decent without cramming a social justice agenda into every square inch of celluloid.  CondorMan (1981) starred Barbara Carrera as a sexy Russian double agent.  It was much more modest than her roles in the 007 films, or Lone Wolf McQuade (1983).

Caroline Munro might best be known for her roles opposite of Roger Moore in the 007 Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me.  However, it was the awful Star Wars knockoff, Star Crash, that cemented her B-movie status. Starring as the leather bikini-clad Stella Starcrash, Munro’s beauty was shining in the horrendous Italian sci-fi flop.

Of course, both of these films were actually not from the 80’s but the late 1970’s.  Who cares?  Munro inspired more than her fair share of teenage boners in her prime. So grab some tissues, dim the lights and enjoy the worst space movie ever made!

Twin blonde sisters, who posed nude for Playboy, Leigh and Lynette Harris starred in few low budget 80’s movies together.  They were featured in “I the Jury” and “Sorceress”. Later, they were embroiled in controversy when found guilty in a federal tax evasion scheme involving a Texas billionaire. They received over $600,000 dollars for providing “sex companionship”, and pleaded guilty.

5 Unusual Industries That You Wouldn’t Have Thought Would Flourish in a Pandemic

Afraid to leave your house? Check these businesses out.

There is no doubt that the global pandemic has been a wild time of rampant over reaction and unchecked fear mongering. Have you ever heard of washing our hands, avoiding touching your face, or basic hygiene?  If that isn’t enough, and you feel still unsafe, then wear your mask when you venture outside your nanny-state “bubble”.

But, while the whole world seems to losing it’s collective social-media hooked mind, there are some industries out there that strangely seem to be flourishing. While some of these were able to provide a solution to some of the problems caused by the situation, others were less expected. Let’s take a look at some unusual industries that are currently thriving during this pandemic.

The Online Sex Industry

The sex industry has always been a juggernaut and has shown signs of resilience in the worst of times. But the boost that it’s getting right now thanks to platforms like OnlyFans and Babestation is unprecedented.

Natasha Cynn on bed

Babestation in particular has seen a massive increase in subscriptions and activity since the beginning of the pandemic. While other platforms seem to be more discreet about their approach, Babestation is more straightforward and unapologetic about what it’s trying to be. The site caters primarily to adult webcam fans and allows users to either pay to watch group cam sessions or pay an additional amount to have a one on one moment with some of the providers on the site.

There have also been lots of talks of celebrities from Amber Rose, to Cardi B, and Katie Price joining OnlyFans, which did a lot not only to popularise the site, but legitimise it as well. It’s important to note, however, that some users are actually using the platform to reach fans and as a way to monetise their fanbase in a time when they can’t do live performances.

Home Improvement Industry

We would expect that, at a time when there’s so much uncertainty about job security and the housing market, people would try to keep investments in their homes to a minimum. However, the industry seems not only to be surviving, but thriving at the moment.

One of the reasons for this is that people are spending more time at home with very few options for entertainment. This also means that they have fewer outlets to spend money on. As a result, many are choosing to invest the money on their property as it gives them a way to both pass the time and appreciate the assets they already have in anticipation of a possible future sale.

One study by Statista found that online sales for gardening and DIY tools increased by 50% just before the restrictions were enacted. One survey that was conducted earlier this year found that 55% of all homeowners in the country were intending to prioritise home improvement projects over the next coming months. The BBC also found that the sale of seeds soared impressively during the month of May of this year, which may indicate that gardening could be growing in popularity as a result of the pandemic.

The Beauty Industry

This is another industry we wouldn’t expect to thrive in times of collective cocooning, but apparently, the beauty sector is doing pretty well at the moment. But, one of the reasons why it’s able to survive is because of one thing no one expected, and that is the rise of virtual parties.

Virtual parties give people the opportunity to feel some sort of social connection and normalcy in isolation. People still want to look great on cam, and that doesn’t only apply to parties either. As more people are using video-conferences to stay connected, a lot are inclined to pay more attention to their appearance so they can always be “camera-ready”.  All of this has prompted a rise in the sale of everything from lash extensions to wigs.

Drive-In Cinemas

Then we have the resurgence of drive-in cinemas. No one would have expected drive-ins to make a comeback. As a matter of fact, some might be surprised that they still exist, but they’re clearly having a comeback, and it could be more lasting than we imagine.

The main reason for this is of course the restrictions on movie theatres, but they were already beginning to struggle before this. A whole new generation of moviegoers is now being introduced to the joys of drive-ins. This also allows families to have an excuse to get out while still being safe. As a matter of fact, this could be the only pandemic-proof form of public entertainment left.

Drive-ins are also being considered as concert venues, which could give ideas to promoters looking for ways to generate revenue in these disastrous times for the entertainment industry.

Coffee Subscription Companies

While no one may have expected that the coronavirus pandemic would be such a windfall for coffee subscription companies, it’s easy to see why when we look at the reality on the ground. Fewer people going out and restrictions on density in enclosed spaces mean that getting your coffee at the nearest Starbucks is now even more of a hassle than it already was. Doing work at your corner coffee shop is also out of the question. Many coffee companies are also not prepared or don’t have a product that is tailored to delivery.

Services that send select beans to their subscribers seem to be the ones doing the best. We can think of services like Blue Coffee Box, Union Roasted, or The Coffee Factory, among others. Many shops have also decided to pivot and package their own beans and blends. There’s also a growing movement towards homemade everything at the moment, and this is another trend we can expect will outlive the pandemic.

As we can see, there’s always a bright side to every story, even scary global pandemics. At times like these, there is really no choice but to try to find ways to adapt, and these sectors all provide a great opportunity to those who’d like to reinvent themselves.

Whispers in the Walls – A Unique Collection of Ghost Stories

Just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean that the time for scary stories has passed. In fact, some people would say that that time never ends. The team at Tennessee Horror News is made up people who definitely hold that belief. The site covers nothing but horror movies, novels, games, and news. While the bulk of their output is made up of reviews and editorials, the team includes a handful of fiction writers as well. On Halloween, they announced the release of their first collaborative work of fiction Whispers in the Walls.

Whispers in the Walls contains eight original stories from six of the site’s writers. Among these writers are published authors Dan Lee, Isaac Thorne, and Bryce Gibson; all of which are known for their own brand of horror stories. The others are known mostly for their web content and podcast appearances. Despite a gap in experience, the quality of the stories is balanced.

The Tone

Because Whispers in the Walls is a collection of short stories from different authors, there isn’t a real cohesive tone. The thing that binds them together is that they all focus on ghosts and other paranormal events. It feels exactly like what it is: a handful of talented storytellers coming together to spin yarns.

The stories range from darkly humorous to haunting. For example, Isaac Thorne’s story Practical Ghosts is full of bloody slapstick that will change the way you think about those ghost hunting shows; at the same time Dan Lee’s Noir walks a line between a detective story and pure cosmic horror. The other tales of terror fall somewhere between the two.

The Stories

I’m going to do my best to avoid spoilers for any of the stories. I’ll just give you a quick synopsis of each one so you know what you’re getting into if you pick up a copy of this book.

The Stop Sign Man – Bryce Gibson

The Stop Sign Man is a story about how an urban legend comes to life for one small town teenager. There is some great tension here and what I feel is the introduction to a universe that I would love to see expanded upon.

Practical Ghosts – Isaac Thorne

Isaac Thorne is known for his brand of “dark comedic horror” and Practical Ghosts is a shining example of that. It tells the story of a pair of spirits inhabiting a rundown house owned by a slumlord. There are plenty of laughs scattered among the blood, tension, and revenge.

She was a Work of Art – Yeti

She Was a Work of Art follows a man who has spent his life chasing ghosts. His obsession leads him to scour the internet for cursed and haunted objects. When he gets what he is looking for he isn’t sure it’s really what he wants. This one has some interesting historical references sprinkled over the claustrophobic horror.

Noir – Dan Lee

I mentioned this one earlier. It’s a somewhere between a detective mystery and reality bending cosmic horror. Noir follows a grizzled ex-cop who is at the end of his rope. An entity from another reality ruins his Christmas plans and shows him a whole new world.

Retribution in Death – Angela McNichols

In Retribution in Death a woman with a history of mental illness is forced to confront her gas lighting mother and fiancé as she tries to determine if she is slipping into madness or haunted by some vile spirit.

Road Test – Dan Lee

Road Test is short and full of terrifying action. There’s plenty of blood, guts, beasts, and vengeful ghosts to fill an entire novel all packed into a handful of pages. I can’t say much more about it without spoiling the twist. Road Test is one hell of a ride.

The Deathless Shell – Tyler Dean

A taxidermist’s receives a beautiful white buck. Behind the snowy pelt hides a spirit bent on survival even if it means wiping out everything in its path. The Deathless Shell is dark, brooding, and will stick with you for a while.

The Visitation Room – Angela McNichols

The Visitation Room takes a look at the death of an abusive parent. Ghosts intertwine with grief to create a moving yet genuinely scary tale of acceptance and mourning.

The Verdict

Honestly, this is one hell of a read. Each of the stories takes its concept to the maximum. You may find yourself turning on an extra light after reading these tales. They are also unlike anything you’re going to find in a big bookstore, for now anyway. Right now, you can only find this book in one place. The price is right and the stories are worth every penny. Get your copy today and see what the Whispers in the Walls say to you.

NFL News: Around the Gridiron

Week 8 Games to Watch

Here we are, almost halfway through the season, and despite a myriad of hurdles due to the global pandemic, the NFL keeps chugging along without any regular-season interruptions. So far, so good. Fingers crossed.

With a little luck, the second half will go as seamlessly as the first and the bitter chill of January will be warmed by playoff football. That’s the plan and so far, the National Football League has delivered as promised. So, without further ado, let’s check out some of the must-see-TV games this weekend and which teams are poised to make noise in the postseason.

New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills – 1:00 PM ET, CBS

Upon closer inspection of the NFL Week 8 opening odds, football fans couldn’t help but look twice when noticing that the Patriots were four-point underdogs to the Buffalo Bills. Of course, the line the oddsmakers are dealing is perfectly in line with what we have seen out of both of these teams, thus far, but it has been so long since the Patriots were underdogs to anyone in the AFC East that it has a peculiar look to it.

Nevertheless, the Bills appear to be the team to beat in the East and their defense should be able to bottle up Cam Newton and his dearth of reliable targets. Julian Edelman appears to be done for the year after undergoing surgery to repair a nagging knee injury which makes a dismal New England receiving corps that much more ineffective.

And although the Bills didn’t look impressive last week in defeating the worst team in the league, the New York Jets, we can chalk it up to an off-day and assume quarterback Josh Allen will be back, gripping it and ripping it, this weekend. If you’re inclined to put your money where your mouth is, then the Bills don’t look like a bad bet here.

Prediction: Bills 27 – Patriots 17

Quarterback Josh Allen runs into the endzone for a touchdown,
Quarterback Josh Allen runs into the endzone for a touchdown,

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns – 1:00 PM ET, FOX

This is a big game for both clubs as the Raiders are sitting at 3-3 and still a viable contender for a wildcard berth because nobody is expecting anyone other than the Kansas City Chiefs to win the AFC West. Speaking of which, it was these very Raiders that put the whammy on the Chiefs in Week 5, at Arrowhead Stadium no less, handing the defending Super Bowl champs their only loss of the season.

The AFC North is rivaling the NFC West as the best division in football. People are buzzing about the undefeated, to this point anyway, Pittsburgh Steelers and the juggernaut Baltimore Ravens. However, the Cleveland Browns boast a record of 5-2 after seven weeks and are quietly becoming a threat.

This week Cleveland will throw down against the Raiders and it should be a dandy to watch. As of this writing, the oddsmakers have installed the Browns as 2 ½ point home favorites and that still doesn’t seem high enough, despite the potent Raiders’ offense led by Derek Carr. Watch Baker Mayfield get the job done and the Browns’ defense keeping Vegas in check.

Prediction Browns 27 – Raiders 21

Baker Mayfield

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens – 1:00 PM ET, CBS

If you have to choose which game to watch this weekend, the Steelers versus the Ravens is the marquee matchup that can’t be missed. Pittsburgh has defied the odds and rolled to a 6-0 mark while the Ravens are doing what they did throughout the 2019 campaign – win. Baltimore’s only blemish on their record is the 34-20 loss to the Chiefs in Week 3 but aside from that, Lamar Jackson has his offense rolling and the Baltimore defense has been nearly as good.

Historically, precious few teams get through the regular season without a loss, and as good as Pittsburgh has been, they are not historically elite. Therefore, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they met their first defeat at the hands of the Ravens in Baltimore. Not to fear, Steelers’ fans, your boys will get another bite at the apple in Week 12 when the Ravens travel to the Steel City, which should be another seismic clash that could ultimately determine the division winner.

Prediction: Ravens 28 – Steelers 24

Can land based casinos survive another lockdown?

Las Vegas going out of business?

The lockdown and ensuing restrictions were tough to regular people and business owners alike. Average Joes found themselves relying on savings and beating their heads against the walls as mask mandates, business closures, and more forced many into unemployment.

casino sign

Some ventures, like taxis and restaurants, were more affected than others.  However, the casino industry was one of the hardest hit. Many casinos are on the brink of collapse and the same goes for local gaming parlors that are reeling after these brutal months. Now people are allowed to enter the premises and play their favorite games under certain conditions, but things could take a turn for the worse in the months to come. The prospect of another lockdown is frightening and many are wondering if the land-based casinos can survive another shock.

Land-based casinos are cash-strapped

When it comes to land-based casinos, the most important thing is the ability to withstand the financial pressure. The biggest operators have some money saved, so they can turn to those resources when they need to pay for ongoing expenses. Smaller casinos like playuk.com and those that were already struggling before the crisis are on the brink of bankruptcy and they can’t survive another shot. As the operating costs are mounting, some casinos only have money for a few more months and others are already borrowing funds.

Even the best case scenario doesn’t look too promising, with the biggest operators having enough resources to cope with another month of restrictions. If another lockdown would be instituted in the final months of 2020, the impact will be crushing on many casinos from all over the world. Meanwhile, the flux of cash is slow and unreliable, because people are reluctant to get together in large crowds. Even though the casinos have created the necessary framework to keep them safe, fear is a powerful factor.

The uncertainty of political decisions

Second only to finances, politics are of critical importance for gambling operators, especially those who run land-based casinos. There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding these businesses, as they are always in danger of being shut down if the crisis starts all over again. There is tremendous pressure from all sides and even though the lobby is powerful, especially in the US, so are the forces running contrary. Many lawmakers are afraid of keeping casinos open at all costs, especially during an election year.

When things take a turn for the worse, politicians are quick to follow the general sentiment and act based on the desire to please the crowds. There are so many other industries that the public wants to keep open before casinos, that gambling operators don’t have many friends. Past events suggest the fact that if the virus makes a resurgence casinos will be promptly shut down and for longer periods of time. The problem with gambling operators is that once they are forced to close their doors, they are likely to stay closed.

The future doesn’t look too bright for land-based casinos and the specter of bankruptcy is looming large. Some will survive, but many will crumble and even those who weather the storm will take a long time to return to profitability.

Fun Ways to Boost Your Sex Life That You’ve Probably Not Considered

Many people are longing for more excitement, satisfaction, and stimulation in their life, but simply do not know where to start to make it happen. Talking about sexual desires can be difficult for some people, but a sex life is a natural part of our everyday life and it is important that you feel satisfied by it.

Whether you are single and want to boost your sex life, or are in a relationship where you just don’t feel like you and your partner are getting the satisfaction you need, there are many fun ways that you can boost your sex life that you have probably never considered. So here are some of our top suggestions.

Take a Sex Class

While you may not be familiar with the idea of going to a sex class and are sitting there thinking “I don’t need to be taught how to have sex”, you may be surprised at how helpful they can be at opening up a whole new avenue of intercourse. Most sex classes are aimed at couples, so both you and your significant other can learn and enjoy the class together as a partnership. Here you will learn about techniques, toys, sexual positions, and be able to have an open discussion about how you both feel your sex life could improve.

Watch an Erotic Movie

Even though you may already be familiar with online pornography and think that you know what sort of videos you like, by watching an erotic movie you wouldn’t usually watch, you can broaden your sexual horizons. If you are in a relationship and decide to watch a couple-friendly erotic movie, then you can learn more about what gets each other going, which will come in handy next time you are in the bedroom together.

However, if you are single then having a night in with an erotic movie is a great way to try something different. There is a wide range of erotic movie genres out there that you can enjoy, from queer-friendly to female-friendly.

Pleasure Yourself in Front of Your Partner

In society, masturbation and self-pleasuring is still largely a taboo subject, but it is important that you are familiar with your own body so that you can get the best from your sex life. Also, if you get into the habit of masturbating in front of your partner then you will soon get a good idea of how to best pleasure each other when being intimate.

Pleasuring yourselves in front of each other encourages you to be close with your partner and can improve your mood, help to relieve pent up stress, and get you both ready for passionate sex.

Introduce a Professional into the Bedroom

Perhaps one of the less considered options for boosting your sex life is bringing a professional into the bedroom. This can work equally as well whether you are single or in a relationship. Hooking up with a third-party if you are in a couple is a great way to live out fantasies with your partner and hiring a professional escort saves you the potential awkwardness of finding someone local to you.

You can find a wide range of different escorts online at Adult Seek, which is a trusted and secure platform that can put you in touch with Essex escorts. No matter what you are looking for, if you try this service, you will be able to find the perfect escort to suit your requirements. You may be surprised at how much bringing a professional into the bedroom can mix up your sex life and give your confidence a boost.

Use Lubrication

This may sound like a more obvious practical tip when it comes to having a good sex life, but it is something that many of us forget about. No matter how aroused or excited you feel to engage in sexual activity, it is important that you do not forget to use lubrication.

If you or your partner at any time suffer from vaginal dryness, which is a problem that is very common, then using lubrication will mean that sex isn’t painful or uncomfortable. Painful sex can snowball into bigger problems that can cause a loss in libido and relationship tensions, so be sure to always have lubrication on hand so you can explore more in your sex life.

Write Down Your Fantasies

If you have a specific turn on or fantasy that you want to explore but feel anxious about being honest about your kinks, then why not try writing them down? Putting pen to paper will help you explore possible activities you are interested in and will make it easier for you to share them with your significant other.

If you feel like your sex life could do with a boost then be sure to get creative, think outside the box, and don’t be afraid to try something new that you hadn’t previously considered.

Online Slots Help Fight the Winter Blues

0

There’s no way around it, winter is coming. It won’t be long before the white stuff starts falling and there is going to be less and less to do. If you’re not into the winter holidays or just don’t want to get out in the cold, life could get pretty boring. No matter how nice your house is, those four walls are going to start closing in. Online slots might be the best option to keep those winter blues at bay.

If you’re not already a gamer, you could try out some of the next gen consoles coming out in the next few months. Let’s face it, though, that’s a big chunk of change to drop and killing zombies isn’t going to put any more coin in your pocket. I guess you could download a dating app and try to get yourself some company but you might just run into the same issue: a big investment with no real return. If we’re being honest, playing online slots is the safest bet here.

It’s a Good Time

There’s a reason so many people gamble every day and it’s not just the money: it’s fun. Somewhere between the risk, the wins, and the flashing lights is a great time. There’s something about the rush of watching a slot machine spin that is hard to replace. Whether you’re playing the penny slots or dropping a few bucks on a spin, that handful of seconds between hitting the spin button and the flashing lights is one hell of a ride. Playing online slots takes all that excitement and brings it to your house.

It’s Convenient

Instead of going out, sitting in a smoky casino, and overpaying for drinks, you can possibly hit the jackpot from the comfort of your couch. Think about it, you’re in a comfortable environment with your drink of choice in hand getting that same rush. You won’t smell like an ashtray at the end of the night, you get all the excitement of winning a few hundred bucks, and you actually saved some cash not paying an arm and a leg for watered down whiskey. It just makes sense.

It isn’t just about drinking booze and gambling in your underwear, though. Instead of having to make an evening of hitting the casino you could pop into a website like Unibet Casino Slot Collection and play a few spins before work. Hell, you could even get in some quality gaming on your lunch break, if you want to spice up your afternoon. You might even hit big and decide that you don’t need to go back from lunch.

You’re In Control

Decades of research have gone into how casinos are put together. They’re designed to destroy your sense of time and inhibition. For instance, there are no windows or clocks on the walls. Unless you’re checking your phone or watch regularly (you won’t be) you could burn an entire afternoon in a casino and have no idea until you step outside. Unless you’re careful you’ll end up spending or losing more time and money than you ever planned.

It’s not just your perception of time that’s being manipulated. We all know that the bells, whistles, and flashing lights are all there to make your brain tell you that you’re doing great and to keep up the good work. What you might not take into consideration is that your brain is also reacting to everyone else’s bells and whistles. Even if you aren’t winning, you’re still getting those positive chemicals flowing.

Playing online slots eliminates all of that engineering. It’s just you, your device, and the game. You’re only getting your own bells and whistles. You can cut it down further by turning your sound off. You’re getting the rush but you’re doing it on your own terms.

Do It All

You could always use your winnings from the online slots to partake in some other winter boredom busters. Stack that money up, buy yourself a new console, and hit those dating apps. Whatever it takes to beat those winter blues, go for it.

Tips to Succeed in Meeting Someone Online

If you find yourself a little bit confused at the start of your online dating quest, you’re not alone. There are slews of other people who, despite the growing popularity of online dating services, confess that they have never ventured to go out with someone they met online. There are many reasons behind this. It may be the fear of the unknown that prevents people from building and developing their virtual relationships. Other daters admit they still feel embarrassed using online dating services.

The experts from One Night Friend, one of the most popular online dating services for adults, emphasize that online dating is the art that can hardly be mastered by those meek and easily discouraged. As E. L. James once noted, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your handsome prince (or a pretty princess). And nowhere does this proverb work as effectively as in the world of online dating. Below are some effective tips that will help you fight your worries and fears and get the most out of online dating.

Take Your Time

Once you craft an attractive profile, you’ll find yourself eager to plunge into the atmosphere of flirting, romantic messages, and virtual courtship. We understand your ardor. But we also cannot but mention another wise quote here: Don’t rush the process, good things take time.

If you don’t find a suitable match from the get-go, don’t get upset. There are plenty of other options available for you to explore. Be patient. And your patience and persistence will pay off down the line.

Take Action

There is no need to sit in front of your monitor and wait until someone decides to drop you a line or send you a smile. Don’t be inert and passive. Take on the role of a hunter and take the initiative. Read into the profiles of the users you find attractive and let them know you’re interested in communicating with them.

Don’t Be Afraid to Appear Old-Fashioned

Online dating is associated with advanced technologies and the digital age. But when you finally spot your potential match and start working on developing your relationship, some things will need to be done the old-fashioned way.

When meeting somebody online, you should question yourself whether you feel like a better person when you chat with your romantic interest. Do you smile or laugh more when you catch up with him/her? Is your communication mentally or emotionally rewarding? If you start discussing mundane things like your son’s tutor, your picky History professor, or housekeeping tricks, it’s a good sign. You are both off to a good start.

Spicing up your online dating with traditional courtship also won’t hurt. Sending virtual presents, postcards, and poems will help you show your affective and genuine interest in your match.

Choose Your Dating Site Wisely

There are tons of dating websites and applications out there. But we highly recommend that you be selective and do enough research prior to entrusting the arrangement of your love life to online dating services.

Some apps and sites are created to help users find serious and long-lasting relationships, while others are more flirt-oriented and offer something more casual and commitment-free. There are also the services specifically geared towards connecting people sharing the same religion, hobby, or convictions. So, it’s important that you pick the site according to your partner preferences.

Be Honest

It’s normal to want to appear better than you really are. But when it comes to finding a suitable partner, you shouldn’t go overboard with your desire to impress. No need to mess with filters and image editing tools. A genuine smile and a slight tilt of your head will tell your potential match much more than your flawless skin, immaculate makeup, and toned body.

To succeed at online dating, psychologies recommend that you be clear about who you are and whom you want to meet online. If you know you have a “deal breaker” issue, be sure to mention it in advance not to disappoint yourself and your potential partner.
