Kill All The Gentlemen speak!
The brutal, thrash-inspired, music is familiar yet different, subtle yet strong and mysterious yet exoteric.
Eyes For Medusa tells the tale of a misunderstood goddess. Once beautiful then cursed out of jealousy. It’s a tainted love story between victim and killer. As the line suggests having “eyes for Medusa, I will seduce her”. “I’ve laid my bed and you’re giving head” she still gets beheaded but she was given new eyes seeing love again and not turning someone to stone.
Slickster: Awesome video for your new single, Eyes of Medusa! What’s the deal with the burning triangle floating in the background? Is there some kind of symbolism or meaning attached to it?
KATG: The response from the video has been amazing so far! We are super proud of it but most of the credit goes to the amazing Charlie Smith at Mind Art Visual. We had a rough concept and he put it all together. As for the triangle… I think you’d have to ask Charlie
Slickster: You’re drummer looks absolutely terrifying. Is he human or in-fact a demon?
KATG: We often debate if Thomas is indeed Human or not. But jokes aside, he is one of the most optimistic people you’ll ever met. He always sees the good in people. But when you get him behind the kit he’s just something else. In the studio he was incredible, amazing takes time and time again. All of us were blown away by his performance on the album.
Slickster: KATG plays some extremely technical and demanding music. Like a crossfit athlete, not just anyone can achieve those levels of speed and precision in their pursuit of perfection. How do you guys keep your musical chops up? Can you briefly describe your practice routine?
KATG: This isn’t something we set out to do when we write. Over the years we just naturally developed more speed and I guess more technical riffs. If anything, we are more focused on song structures and “serving the song” at this point. We are more then happy to get the brutal riffs out, but at the same time, if there’s a simple melody that just cuts through, no need to overly complicate it. Practice-wise, we have our own practice room called “HQ”. We try to practice at least once a week, run through the set, write new song ideas and get into that right emotional head space. We’ve always had the mentality of “train hard, first easy”.
Slickster: What’s next for KATG? World tour? Virtual world tour?
KATG: The pandemic really set everyone back, especially in the music world. We had to cancel a lot of shows and tours we had booked. Luckily things are looking are lot more positive now. We have a handful of UK shows coming up and something really worth shouting about in the near future. But for now you guys will just have to wait…
Slickster: Thanks again for sharing your awesome music. Is there anything else you’d like to add? What is the most important message you can share with the world right now at the beginning of 2022?
KATG: Well I think everyone wants a better year compared to the last couple. It’s given everyone a lot of time to reflect being in all this isolation. For us it gave us a great opportunity to remember WHY we do this. That WHY is so important in everyone’s life. WHY do you get up in the morning, WHY are you drawn to this person or this experience. The reason why we do this is simple. We absolutely fucking love it! There’s nothing like the four of us getting in a room and cranking it as loud as we can. Going out in the road just amplifies that, that’s what’s made us want it even more. We don’t try to follow trends or what a certain scene. This is our truth and we are fucking proud of it!
The video was recorded by Charlie Smith at Mind Art Visual in Tazma Studios, Devon, England and the song features guest vocals written and performed by Grace Gillan.
