The other day I’m walking down the frozen foods isle at the local grocery store.  So what, I still eat Hotpockets.  Don’t roll your eyes at me.  When I reach the end cap, I see this shelf with water balloons and a video display.  On the display is a button that says, ‘push to watch the video’.  Of course, I have to push it.  So I do…. Nothing. I push harder.  Still nothing.  ‘Oh well, this shit is broke‘, I murmur and walk away, when the screen starts to buffer.

Turns out it is a short video advertisement for the Zuru Bunch O Ballons filling device.  Their claim is ‘This ingenious invention let’s you Fill & Tie 100 water balloons in under 60 seconds so you no longer have to put up with tedious tying one by one!” That looks cool, right?  But that wasn’t what I immediately noticed in the video.

There was blonde MILF sunning herself in a neon pink string bikini.  She happens to be laying down when she gets a huge load of water ballon to the boobs and face.  Subtle.  No, not really.  At first, I thought it was just me.  Maybe I hadn’t gotten laid since I grew that hipster beard that is all the rage now.  So I decided to, ahem…. Investigate this further when I got back to my house.

Sure enough, I was shocked to find that Zuru Bunch O Ballons ad on Youtube had a staggering number of views. Screen Shot 2016-06-12 at 8.59.48 PM

That’s right.  You read that correct.  Over 27 MILLION video views for a kids toy that lets you fill up a bunch of water balloons.  While, it’s no secret that marketeers can buy likes and views on social media, this seems a little absurd.   Was this product that popular?  Do Zuru’s product sales match this astronomically high view count?

I doubt it.  What I think is happening here is a case of puberty catching on in the market in precisely the right way.

Mom to son,”Whatcha’ watching?
Son to mom,”Nothing. Just this new water ballon commercial.
Mom to son,”Ok, time for dinner.
Son to mom,”Be right there. Just need to watch this commercial again in my room.

So, you decide.  Does this commercial cross the line and get a little porny, or is it just good, clean fun?
