Kevin Durant is officially the newest villain in the NBA. For a long time, Kevin “Quitter” Durant was the young gun with Russell Westbrook and the Thunder, ready to take the NBA by storm. Now, KD is that kid who quits playing with you after losing and switches to the other team. News broke about the blockbuster deal earlier today, and the collective basketball world lost its mind.
“Long time” Warriors fans expressed their excitement, NBA players felt a bemused confusion, and everyone else was pissed. For full disclosure, I am a Sacramento Kings fan, so I already hate every other California team with a burning passion.
But now? Kevin Durant and the Warriors are the more detestable to me than… than… I don’t even know! The absolute cowardly, bullshit, selfishness of this whole situation makes it impossible for me to come up with a simile.
Although I detest ESPN reporter Stephen A. Smith, I think he hit it right on the nose with his thoughts.
Don’t give a damn what anyone says: weak move by KD. You go to GSW, the team who beat you, when you’re already on a title contender? Please!

Kevin Durant is softer than dog shit so it makes sense he’d go to the Warriors though. Stephen (Choke) Curry can’t play for his life in the Finals. Klay Thompson is about as consistent as the starting Quarterback for the Browns. And Draymond Green is a ball-tapping, scumbag, piece of trash who complains, complains, complains.
So why wouldn’t Mr. Second-Place join a team headed by to brats who were raised in the lap of luxury? He wants to know what being a winner feels like, so of course he’ll join the sons of former NBA players. The Warriors now have the last three MVP’s on their team. (KD in 2014, and Curry for 2015-2016)
With Durant signing with the Warriors, ownership will have to trade away players in order to not go over the cap. Executives for other teams are not interested in trades with them at the moment though. NBA Analyst with Fox Sports Sam Amico tweeted out an executive’s feelings about trading.
One NBA team exec who says he was previously interested in trading for Andrew Bogut texts he’s no longer interested. “I’m not helping them.”

The NBA is supposed to be about competition, and the CBA meant to prevent super teams like this form forming. With the CBA voidable in two years, could the NBA be looking at another lock out? What will happen if Durant pulls a Deandre Jordan and backs out of the signing?
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few days. Whether I watch another game of NBA action for a while is up for debate though. Oh well, here’s hoping these Warriors turn out like the Lakers “Super Team” with Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, Kobe, and Pau Gasol.
