As a native to Texas, I have really come to enjoy every aspect of my state and all it stands for. I especially like it when I find artists that are from the Lone Star State, especially if they really strike a chord with me. Which brings us to the band in question: Forever The Sickest Kids.
Forever the Sickest Kids Origin
Hailing from the good old cowboy city of Dallas, Texas; Forever The Sickest Kids was formed when singer and front man Jonathan Cook impulsively bought a front page music spot on purevolume.com (with no songs to their name, I might add). He formed the band with bassist Austin Bello, guitarist Caleb Truman, and drummer Kyle Burns.
They also began with two additional members but unfortunately they are no longer involved with the band anymore (Keyboardist Kent Garrison and burns’ stepbrother and guitarist Marc Stewart). Within a sort span of half a week the band recorded their first single “Hey Britney,” and almost as if fate was on their side landed a recording contract soon after the song became a hit.
Style
A lot of the band’s songs consist of a mixture of rock and electronic beats including synthesizers and keyboards to come together to form a large plethora of music. The band mainly has an upbeat, and positive sound in most of their songs using a large variety of catchy hooks that really immerse you into the music, while still being able to maintain that rock- punk elements in their music.
Albums
So far in their repertoire of music, Forever The Sickest Kids have three full length albums, as well as two short EPs and a large plethora of singles. I had just recently started listening to them so my knowledge of their songs is rather limited per say, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the hard work they put into their music.
My favorite song so far is their latest single “Playing With Fire.” It’s one of those songs that I can really relate to on a personal level, not to mention it has a nice mixture of new wave sounds and upbeat vocals that really tie into the song nicely.
On a side note I also enjoy their very first single “Hello Brittney” just because I find the back story behind this song rather amusing. You see, in order to meet a specific deadline, they hashed up this little gem literally days after forming, afterward it became a hit on purevolume.com which ultimately landed them there record contract, I just really find it hilarious how lucky these guys are!

Opinion on the Band
Honestly, this is one of those times were I’m glad I decided to step out of my comfort zone. I can honestly say I would’ve never had gone on an outright search for this band out of the goodness of my heart, and that I rather quite enjoy their music rather vigorously.
Their songs have a real positive sound that really draws a person into the music. It’s really great when an artist can express themselves without putting so much unnecessary violence into their songs. Not only that the positive messages within their music could honestly strike a chord with a lot people that need a positive push to overcome problems in their life.
So that pegs the undeniable question, would I recommend this band to people? Honestly, yes I would, I highly recommend them especially to the people who attend Warped Tour. I really do hope you enjoy this band, I know I did!! Let me know what you think in the comments!
