Conor McGregor Pulled From UFC 200, Talks About Retiring Young

By Joe Billi, April 20, 2016, at 5:30 a.m.

Pulled from UFC 200 and his second fight with lightweight Nate Diaz due to not appearing at a UFC press conference in Las Vegas, Conor McGregor is now talking about early retirement.

On Tuesday, Dana White made the announcement that Conor McGregor would not be fighting Nate Diaz and the Irishman was removed from the card entirely. “We pulled Conor McGregor from UFC 200 and we’re working on other fights right now,” White said. “Conor did not want to come to Las Vegas and film the commercial and be a part of the marketing. He’s in Iceland training.”

After being pulled from the card, the 27-year-old champion tweeted, “I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya’s later.”

When questioned about the cryptic tweet White had this to say, “Is Conor retiring? Only he can answer that question. I don’t know.”

Joe Rogan, the UFC’s color commentator, said on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience that McGregor was probably “just trolling” and that retiring young probably meant somewhere in the fighter’s early 30s.

At this point, MMA fans know that Conor McGregor will not be fighting in the near future. But, the question on everyone’s mind is if we will ever get to see Conor McGregor fight again? The young fighter was believed to have been thinking about retiring before UFC came knocking at his door. And now with his new found wealth this could be the opportunity he needs to leave fighting for good.

It’s hard to believe that someone like Conor would leave the game with a loss to Diaz being the last item on his résumé. For now, we will just have to wait and see if his tweets are legitimate or just another flamboyant creation of drama.
