A while back we ran an article for the top foods to eat when you get stoned.  We also named one of the #ATL Falcons cheerleaders in our top ten hottest NFL Cheerleaders last year.   This year, New Years Resolution and scales be damned, we are moving into the best foods that guys like eat during Super Bowl parties.  It doesn’t matter if you are a bachelor or have the awesome doting sig. other – These are ten easy to make foods that will enhance everyone’s Super Bowl event.  Unless, you’re a Dolphins fan… sorry Fish, maybe next year.

THE CLASSICS

  1. BURGERS:

Burgers are of course the undisputed champions of all sports and party food in this nation. So it is only natural that the countries favorite sport should be burgers.

Here are 3 easy ways you can really enhance a burger and make it seriously unforgettable

One option is stuffing shredded cheese (or cheeses) in-between two burger patties and pinching them closed around the pocket of cheese before cooking.

A secret trick I have learned from working in kitchens for many years and experimenting myself is coffee. Try seasoning the uncooked burger patties with a small amount of fresh coffee grounds before cooking.

Finally take a lesson from great meatball recipes and add a hearty portion of seasoned breadcrumbs (Add breadcrumbs and egg to beef. ).

  1. HOTDOGS:

The second runner up classic is of course the hotdog, and while everyone enjoys a hot dog, there are many tastier meaty-ier options to change it up with. Some of the first and easiest options are of course various Brats and Sausages on a regular hotdog bun.

Keep in mind that you can always take a regular cheap raw Brat or Sausage to the next level by soaking in your favorite beer a few hours before cooking.

  1. WINGS:

We all have our favorite fast service wing places, but if you make your own wings and you want to take them a step up, then here are two time tested ways to do that.

Try the well trusted Stab N’ Season method. Simply stab your wings repeatedly on both sides, and then rub them roughly with your favorite seasoning blend and/or sauces.

However, if you like your wings naked and ready to dip in some fiery hot-sauces then go beyond the raw carrot and celery and blue cheese dressing. You want limes to neutralize that heat, along with beer and some salted tortilla chips or buttered toast.

  1. NACHOS:

While your grandfather, and maybe even your dad, didn’t necessarily grow up eating nachos at the game, it’s a modern day classic. You can hardly find a large American sports gathering that doesn’t have nachos somewhere nowadays.

To make sure your nachos don’t end up weak, what you can do is (and I can’t stress this enough), use fresh ingredients. By that all I simply mean is take the time to cut up an onion or two, a few jalapenos, a little cilantro, a tomato, etc. You’ll find it makes all the difference, and it can even be cheaper than a bunch of separate cans, or an overpriced pre-cut set. And most importantly remember to serve nachos with everything separate. If you serve if all together, in an hour it’ll be incredibly soggy and won’t re-heat well next day.

THE TEAMS

THE ATLANTA FALCONS:

If you looking to honor the Falcon’s home-city of Atlanta while rooting for these underdogs victory then here are 2 foods that will keep you in the spirit:

  1. SHRIMP:

Shrimp is an Atlanta favorite. Very commonly served with grits, but just as often blackened on a grill.

  1. CORNBREAD:

This southern staple fits in perfectly with anything grilled, smoked, barbecued, spicy, sweet, etc. So you really can’t go wrong including it in your game time meal.

THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:

However, if you’re counting on another Patriots victory, then here are 2 traditional choices from the region to try out if clam chowder doesn’t sound too great next to your burgers, fries, and dogs.

  1. COD:

When it comes to greasy fried drunken food not much beats a good ol’ fish n’ chips. Or throw it on a bun with some tartar sauce and pickles.

  1. BAKED BEANS:

If you’re rooting for New England this year try substituting the classic chili for some baked beans. It’s a local favorite that will go great with anything on this list.

 OVERTIME: DRINKS AND DESSERT

  1. PIE:

Everyone loves pie. Whether you’re eating Boston Crème Pie and Apple Pie for New England, or having Georgia Peach and Pecan Pie for Atlanta, there is pie for everyone.  Just be sure that you don’t eat the apple pie with the big hole in the middle.  You’ve been warned,

  1. BACON SRIRACHA BLOODY MARYS:

Kick your Bloody Mary’s up a notch by adding some sriracha sauce. And trade that celery stick for a skewered piece of bacon and a pickle.  If you need help follow the directions below:

Directions
  • In a 1-1/2 quart pitcher, combine tomato juice, lime juice, Sriracha, lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and celery salt. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to blend flavors.
  • Meanwhile, make bacon garnish. …
  • Before serving, stir vodka into tomato juice mixture.
