2016 was an incredible year for comic books. Marvel had its second Civil War, and DC was the comeback kid with the major success it had with its Rebirth line of comic books.

In out newest Top Ten List, Slickster takes a look at our favorite titles going into 2017.

10. Jupiter’s Legacy 2

Mark Millar’s cautionary tale of what happens when super heroics, celebrity, and ambition collide. While this comic book series is ending in 2017, I would highly recommend it as essential reading!

9. Seven to Eternity

Rick Remender’s fantasy epic is part Games of Thrones, part Star Wars, Part Lord of the Rings and is all good. This comic book that tells the tale of seven rebels against the world will continue to be golden in 2017.

8. Black Science

Rick Remender hits our top ten list of comic books for a second time with this ongoing series. Since 2013 Grant McKay has been the master of Black Science sowing havoc throughout the multiverse. Stripped of his intellect and stranded on his home Earth. Grant and his daughter must now pay the price of his misdeeds as “the chickens come home to roost.”

7. Supergirl

Who knew the teenage adventures of Superman’s little cousin could be so compelling? Kara Zor-El was completely directionless in the New 52. Her portrayal, as an angry, oversexualized, underdressed teenager was completely tone def. After the Rebirth, Kara Zor-El has returned as a happy go lucky teenager, struggling to find her way in the world.

6. The Invincible Iron Man

Honestly, I wasn’t sure how I would ultimately feel about Riri Williams carrying on Tony’s mantle as Iron Man. However, Riri has proven to be much more than a gender/ethnic swapped Iron Man. This book started off strong in 2016 and should continue to do big things in 2017.

5. New Super-Man

I had no idea the Kenan Kong’s made in China Superman would be a total delight. Much like Marvel’s Champions, this book captures the pure awkwardness and joy of being a teenaged superhero.

4. The Super Sons

The adventures of Damian Wayne and Jon Kent was my most anticipated book of 2016. Pushed back to February 2017, I’m eagerly awaiting the next phase of the SuperSons.

3. Champions

Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos reunite to bring the fun back to Marvel comics. Expect high drama and high-flying fun in the new series as in marches to its own beat in 2017.

2. Superman

No comic book has improved from 2015 to 2015 as much as Superman. With the return of the original Superman from the pre-52 DC continuity. DC has created a comic book that is fun, joyful and compelling. I couldn’t recommend and series more than anything Superman related except for….

1. Batman

I’m completely blown away bow how good everything Batman related these days. Batman, Detective Comics, and All-Star Batman are a trinity of goodness.

These are the books we are most looking forward to in 2017, how about you! Leave your thoughts in the comments selection below.
