The official announcement came from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm studios earlier this week for the sequel to DC’s popular fighting game Injustice. The trailer depicts a fight between Superman, The Flash, Batman, Aquaman, and Supergirl as they all pit against each other, thus continuing on the story from 2011’s game.
So far the characters above are all confirmed (Supergirl is a great addition), and two more have been revealed: Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus. Assuming that most fan favorites from the first game will return such as The Joker, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Shazam, and a handful of others, surely the roster will be bumped up to add a few new brawlers in the mix. Here are 10 new fighters we want to see for Injustice 2 to make this game so much more amazing.
10 New Fighters We Want For Injustice 2
10. Swamp Thing
Swamp Thing would be the perfect character to introduce in the sequel for fans to be more familiar with this classic creature. Given his abilities to control plant life, change his size, and have superior strength, he would make a great fighter in the new entry to the series.
9. Captain Cold
This would be a tough choice over Mr. Freeze (which I would be happy with as well), but having one of Flash’s popular rogue’s going head to head against the likes of Superman or Gorilla Grodd is just too good of an opportunity to pass. His arsenal of weapons and fighting style would bring some fun and unique action on screen. Plus, Captain Cold would be much cooler than Killer Frost. (see what I did there)
8. Black Canary
We need some more deadly women in the mix, and Black Canary would be a perfect addition to the game. Green Arrow could definitely use another ally in this new story, and as a highly skilled fighter with a dangerous Canary Cry and weapons, she would make an opponent that would make any fight seem difficult.
7. Blue Beetle
Blue Beetle is one of the more popular DC characters that tends to not get that much exposure. He’s featured heavily in comic books and some animated series, but this would be a fun way to bring him to life in a new way. With his powers from the scarab, Blue Beetle would bring an interesting dynamic against the other fighters.
6. Bizarro
Superman’s ugly opposite. Bizarro would be a fun character to throw in the mix with his opposite abilities and reverse look of the Man of Steel. Bizarro has been in a few video games in the past, but to actually throw down as the monster himself would be very interesting.
5. Reverse Flash
It’s surprising that Reverse Flash wasn’t in the first game, pitting The Flash against his biggest enemy seems perfect sense. The yellow-suited fiend can match The Flash in all ways but would surely have some slightly different skills and fighting styles than our hero. Either way, it would be great to see another classic rogue in the game to carry on the story.
4. Robin
The Boy Wonder! So we’ve previously had Nightwing and Batgirl, but wouldn’t it be cool to kick some ass as Robin? The Tim Drake version would be cool (I’ll explain why in a minute), or hell, even Damien Wayne. But having Robin in the mix to throw down next to Batman would be such a great treat to all fans with the help of his own acrobatic skills and gadgets.
3. Deadshot
With Suicide Squad coming out later this year, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another member or two pop up in the new game. Deadshot would be the most probable player. The marksman is well equipped with an arsenal of weapons and tactical skills that would be a tough match for the likes of Deathstroke and Batman.
2. The Red Hood
The Red Hood would ultimately be one of the greatest fighters in the sequel. As I mentioned before with Robin, having Tim Drake take the mantle would leave Jason Todd (the former Robin) emerge as The Red Hood in the game. Things would be really interesting then, having three formal Robins in the game (if Nightwing is still around). However, if you watch the new trailer closely, Batman’s armor turns into the resemblance of Red Hood at the end. Why is this? Still yet to find out…
1. Darkseid
Finally, the biggest baddie of them all needs to be in Injustice 2. Darkseid is the cosmic villain that has a reign of terror that isn’t to be messed with. Including Darkseid would not only be an amazing gameplay experience with the use of his strength and abilities, but would also surely bring a large impact to the story itself. Plus with the Justice League movie soon coming out, we all want a little taste of the tyrant.
Obviously, there’s a lot of characters that Injustice 2 can choose from, but we think this list is pretty solid. Did we miss anyone on your list? Who would you like to see join the fight and how excited are you for the game? Let us know in the comments below!
